It's still hard to gauge the stereotypical Lemmy user yet

[-] kittenzrulz123@lemmy.dbzer0.com 12 points 6 days ago* (last edited 6 days ago)

Depends on the instance:

  • LW/FHF users: Basically Redditors but mildly more elitist and significantly more male dominated
  • Feddit.de users: Like the previous one except german
  • DB0/FAF users: Nerdy, queer, and very leftist, also somewhat generally pro-ai (I may be biased here)
  • Blahaj users: Very lesbian, very trans, many catgirls, lots of Linux users :3
  • ML/Hex/etc users: Very leftist, very aggressive when approached with nonsense, gets into arguments with people whos minds will never be changed

I would characterize us as more critically pro-ai, or maybe even just not-against-ai

[-] kittenzrulz123@lemmy.dbzer0.com 4 points 6 days ago

I meant more generally speaking rather than in the AI bro sense

[-] db0@lemmy.dbzer0.com 6 points 6 days ago

Yep. Unfortunately the internet scolds are absolutely without nuance on this matter, so I feel we have to always be very precise in our language

Neurodivergent middle-aged Linux using anti-AI nostalgiagoggle-wearing very online privacy enthusiast with some degree of fixation on tech, be that privately (their hobby) or professionally (their job).

[-] necrobius@lemmy.zip 7 points 6 days ago

Damn you didn't have to read me like that

[-] TubularTittyFrog@lemmy.world 3 points 5 days ago

i keep assuming they are like 22-26 given how massively immature/insecure most of their takes on the world are.

plus don't forget they are anti-capitalist, or something.

[-] starman2112@sh.itjust.works 3 points 5 days ago

Hey man, 31 ain't middle aged

[-] Tabula_stercore@lemmy.world 4 points 5 days ago

Depends on your life expectancy

[-] CarstenBoll@feddit.dk 7 points 6 days ago

Excuse me, but I am not neurodivergent! At least not to my knowledge.....

[-] Silic0n_Alph4@lemmy.world 6 points 6 days ago

Ok, we might have some news for you then…

[-] CarstenBoll@feddit.dk 4 points 6 days ago
[-] Silic0n_Alph4@lemmy.world 2 points 6 days ago

Depends entirely on how you take it…

How can I phrase this nicely… I don’t think being on Lemmy, of all services, has a strong correlation with being neurotypical. When it comes to Fediverse users being neurodiverse, the odds are good… and the goods are odd 😆

[-] CarstenBoll@feddit.dk 1 points 6 days ago

Actually, in Denmark iirc you're only diagnosed neurodivergent if you experience your symptoms as issues in day-to-day life, and I don't think I have any problems in my day-to-day. I follow a lot of neurodivergent people on Mastodon and the fediverse in general, and while I can recognize some traits in myself, I don't experience any of the difficulties I can hear they have.

Does that make me neurotypical? Not sure.

[-] SGforce@lemmy.ca 1 points 6 days ago

So I...shouldn't have mentioned Lemmy when that girl asked me to add her on Insta?

[-] HerbalGamer@sh.itjust.works 21 points 1 week ago

Don't forget leftist but somehow not communist

[-] death_to_carrots@feddit.org 8 points 1 week ago

Why am I in this post?

[-] idiomaddict@lemmy.world 5 points 1 week ago

3/8 phew

Neurodivergent, anti-AI, and, given the number of times I’ve inadvertently referenced internet culture and had to explain it to people, probably very online.

When does middle age start again?

[-] ArcaneSlime@lemmy.dbzer0.com 3 points 6 days ago

That's not the important part, the important part is you now must figure out which Linux distro you'll be installing. I recommend Mint or FedoraKDE.
