The Democratic Party really isn't a factor here. They're just going to be the incidental benefactors of Donald's monumental hubris.

Think of it like 2010. People didn't really want the Republicans then, most just saw that as their only choice in the face of Barack Obama turning heel and making the active choice not to follow through on any of his progressive campaign promises. (And boy did he make extravagant promises.)
