Would you actually have to go back to high school? (awful.systems)

OK, so a lot of people have a recurring dream where you have to go back to high school because you missed a graduation requirement, even though you're a grown-ass adult. But I'm curious if anyone knows what would actually happen in this scenario. Would they wave it off, or would you need to take a college class, or get your GED (or equivalent)? Any educators out there to enlighten us?

I don't know for certain but I think if the school already gave you a diploma, they can't take it back.

I have heard of situations in tv shows where a person who never got their diploma go back and finish so they can get a particular job or promotion. I could see that happening. I think for adults, they have highschool equivalency courses.
