Yeah I'm not a gambler. We have a casino in town but I've only been there a few times, never spent more than $20. Never walked away with anything, either. I see it as a cost of entertainment, not an opportunity. Most times I've been there was for a comedy show and I was waiting for it to start.
Yeah, training only and a few for fun. I've done range medical a few times and after they were done, let us blow through some rounds.
I've got a .45 pistol, a semi auto Remington 12 ga, and a .308 AR. The goal is coverage. I looked at a tommy gun today but couldn't pull the trigger on it (har har). A mid range is the last gap in my coverage, but a .45 hi-point is like $350, while the tommy gun is $1000, longer and heavier, without mounting points. And if you buy one without the drum magazine, do you really have one at all? But that mag is almost the price of the hi-point as a whole. And the damn thing was as big as my AR.
Ha, you're a caliber up on me. I was looking at getting a 12 ga, specifically AR-12s, but I talked myself out of it and I think I'm fine with what I have. If I'm in a situation where 5.56 isn't enough, I was already on borrowed time. All my money goes into camera gear now, another hobby as expensive as guns.
I hear that. I dunno that I'd do an AR-12. I've never had experience with em but I'd be skeptical of the platform being capable of handling that much pressure reliably.
I didn't invest in cameras because I live in a quiet neighborhood in an otherwise questionable city. I just don't feel that's necessary where I live. But everyone's conditions are different. I may have to in the future, but currently I don't see it being high on the list.
I also get the sentiment of being on borrowed time if it's escalated beyond 5.56. But my thing is, if I have to go down, I could certainly make it harder to take the next guy down. At that point, I'm doing my part. All I need to do is make sure they have less people to put toward storming the next guys house. If we all did that, the fascists would run out rather quickly.
AR-12 is kinda fun. A buddy has a cheapo and I've ran a few mags through it. More of a gimmick IMO. No clue on the reliability, but it's fun.
I mean a camera like a photo camera lol. I'm not that paranoid. Crime is really low here other than the meth heads and domestic violence.
I'm betting things will fall apart for everyone well before there are fascists outside my door. I'm more worried about the looters and the opportunistic ne'er-do-wells local to the area. Luckily I have a plan and property away from most people. It's not ideal, but it's better than being in a big city if SHTF. It's not something I think will happen, but better something than nothing.
Naa the AR 12g shottys are reliable now. (Don't buy a cheap Turkish one). I have a VR82 which is the 20g version of the vr80 which is 12g. They(RIA) made the 20g vr82 after a lot of feedback from the 3 gun community. Which is what I use mine for. It's stupid light and runs just about anything I put into it. It also has the kick of a spicy 556 at best.
As for the fascist thing...you don't even need to worry about pulling the trigger. A lot of those types aren't willing to die for a paycheck. They're expecting people to not be armed.
