I can’t tell who is David Beckham, mostly because I don’t know who that is.

[–] [email protected] 27 points 1 year ago (1 children)

He's a husband of one of the Spice Girls

[–] [email protected] 4 points 1 year ago

Doesn't that guy run some kind of energy drink ad campaign?

I’m not a sports person but even I know he was one of the biggest soccer players and most famous athletes in the world.

I don't really care for football either, but the name rings a bell. Isn't he the guy who had the really funny and innacurate bronze statue made in his questionable honour?

[–] [email protected] 6 points 1 year ago

You're not wrong btw. Ronaldo and Beckham both had shitty bronze statues done. But Beckham's was a prank played on him, inspired by Ronaldo's statue.

[–] [email protected] 5 points 1 year ago (2 children)

No, that's Ronaldo. Around 20 years ago Beckham was one of the most famous people in the world

[–] [email protected] 3 points 1 year ago

Yeah, there's literally a movie about worshipping his athletic prowess.

Aah. Well see then I know at least three footballers - Zlatan Ibrahimovic was really big here in Sweden.

If his heyday was 20 years ago it's no wonder I don't know much about him. I was like 9, and lived out in the middle of nowhere. I had no friends, so I spent my days reading books and plonking away in QBASIC on my old Windows 98 machine. There was a lot of Populous 3, RollerCoaster Tycoon, and The Sims involved as well.

Then we're of the same age. On my 9th birthday all the boys had "the beckham haircut". It makes sense that you managed to not know of him if you lived in the middle of nowhere, I can promise you that if you had lived in a city you wouldn't have had a chance of not knowing who he is.

I don't know either but common sense tells me the guy on the left ain't him

I think you just described me from every post in celebs

Edit stupid autocorrect and tired

I'm like this too. Like I know a few whose works I really enjoy (like Bette Midler), and then I know the names of others but I couldn't point them out in a crowd. I've heard the name David Beckham before, and I know he's some football guy, but I don't really know more than that.
