It was transparent at the time, kinda cringey actually. At least ToS focused more on the Greek morality play part, though it had cringe transparent moments too. Trying to include a moral lesson is like walking a tightrope: it's cool when it feels like a natural part of the story or world-building, but it's sooo cringy when it feels like a direct lecture from the writers to you.
