During the border patrol stop, the driver, Luis Niño-Moncada, “weaponized their vehicle against” officers, DHS said, prompting an agent “to defend himself and others” by shooting the occupants. Zambrano-Contreras was hit in the chest, Niño-Moncada was hit in the arm and both were hospitalized, then taken into federal custody, DHS noted. The agents were uninjured.

OK, Einstein, what the fuck border are they protecting in Portland, Ore.? Washington?

ICE/CBP has jurisdiction around all international ports of entry, that includes international airports. Which basically means everywhere.

Jurisdiction, sure. But "During the border patrol stop" suggests an international border was crossed.

I've crossed into Washington several times from B.C. Totally different than hopping across the river to Portland.

No, a border patrol stop is never at the border. That would just be going through a border/checkpoint.

It's someone being stopped by border patrol somewhere in their jurisdiction because they suspect something. And they don't really need a reason. Border and Customs issues have a lot of exceptions to the normal requirements, even before the recent shit.

I'm aware, but I'm not going to engage with an apologist for what our government is doing.

Apologist? Far from it. Nothing in that explanation was trying to justify the shit show we're in. It is about clarifying something because someone is posting bullshit because of a clear lack of experience with the topic. The scenario in question isn't new, this shit has been going on for years. Anyone in a border region with native or Hispanic friends could tell you that. No one gave a shit until a couple white people got murdered, like always.

Your assumption here shows you don't actually intend to engage anyone seriously anyway, regardless of what you want to claim. It's also clear you've likely never really interacted with border patrol beyond maybe in an airport. You can go ahead back under your rock and continue to post misinformation, intentional or not, if you prefer.

I live in Texas. I grew up in Arizona and lived in New Mexico for a time. So, bad call on the assumption that I have no experience with Hispanic neighbours.

Your grievance is clearly not with me, so I decline to further engage.

Conveniently the exact relevant experience that no one can verify. Definitely nothing to see there.

Also something he's talked about extensively in the past, living in TX and going to see family in AZ. A simple search through his post history would reveal that.

As for the ICE stuff, they've been doing shit for a long time, but the current admin ramped it up to unprecedented levels. There's not really any denying that. They've also been going about it in an illegal manner much more brazenly this past year.
