[–] potustheplant@feddit.nl 1 point 8 months ago* (last edited 8 months ago) (2 children) So you're telling me that they're offering a paid service for free. That makes me trust and want to use it even less. EDIT: Turns out that stremoo doesn't use debrid. That's something a stremio user can configure. By default, you do leech torrents and never seed then. permalink fedilink source parent hideshow 4 child comments replies: [–] Psythik@lemmy.world 1 point 8 months ago (1 child) Stremio is free, the service you need to cache the torrents (Real-Debrid) isn't. It's about $/€3 per month, which is still cheaper than a VPN (which you need for torrents but not for Stremio/Debrid). permalink fedilink source parent hideshow 2 child comments replies: [–] potustheplant@feddit.nl 2 points 8 months ago (1 child) Wait, so if I get this right, stremio has nothing to do with debrid on its own. So if you just use Stremio, as is, you are leeching a torrent you don't seed? permalink fedilink source parent hideshow 2 child comments replies: [–] Psythik@lemmy.world 1 point 8 months ago (1 child) Correct. Without a Debrid service, you stream the torrent directly from the tracker. It's also slow AF for all but the most popular content so you really don't want to go without. (In my experience most torrents are already cached on Debrid, BTW, so there's no hit and run since you're just downloading the file directly from a server.) permalink fedilink source parent hideshow 2 child comments replies: [–] potustheplant@feddit.nl 1 point 8 months ago So my original point about Stremio itself was correct I guess. Most common users that have no idea what debrid is (like me until 24hs ago xd) will leech torrents and never seed them. That kinda sucks, big time. permalink fedilink source parent [–] 9bananas@feddit.org 0 points 8 months ago (1 child) use or don't; who cares? just don't spread lies... permalink fedilink source parent hideshow 2 child comments replies: [–] potustheplant@feddit.nl 0 points 8 months ago Sheesh, this place is turning into reddit faster than I'd like.
