It's probably because windows is still in dual boot. Edit: specifically, IIRC, it was windows update that borked it, but it always would auto-update when I opened it, so if you can find a way to guarantee windows never updates, power to you. permalink fedilink source parent hideshow 7 child comments replies: [–] lukaro@lemmy.zip 1 point 10 months ago* (1 child) So that explains my Zorin install disappearing several times. I just gave up and got a Mac. permalink fedilink source parent hideshow 1 child comment replies: [–] wolframhydroxide@sh.itjust.works 1 point 10 months ago Yeah, sorry, I learned that the hard way. I just eventually said fuck it, and now I run 'doze on a VM in my Linux mint. permalink fedilink source parent [–] lightnsfw@reddthat.com 0 points 10 months ago (4 children) Yeah I would assume so too but I can't drop windows and if I can't rely on dual booting to work it's not worth messing with. I have a laptop with bazzite on it but that only gets so far. permalink fedilink source parent hideshow 4 child comments replies: [–] Jyek@sh.itjust.works 4 points 10 months ago (1 child) Don't dualboot with a partition and you'll be fine. Give Linux it's own drive and Windows stops messing with it. permalink fedilink source parent hideshow 1 child comment replies: [–] lightnsfw@reddthat.com 1 point 10 months ago I don't have enough drive slots for that. permalink fedilink source parent [+] Lfrith@lemmy.ca 1 point 10 months ago* (last edited 7 months ago) (1 child) [deleted] permalink fedilink source parent hideshow 1 child comment replies: [–] MDCCCLV@lemmy.ca 1 point 10 months ago I did that but it is still trying to give me updates constantly. permalink fedilink source parent
