Always trying to frame their childish temper tantrums at reality as being the "mature adults in the room." Ukraine has lost, Russia has won. The winner is the one who gets to decide terms in a peace agreement, not the loser, it sucks, but that is how war has worked since we invented the concept.

And it rests purely on American exceptionalism. "Absurd, right?" Not if you lose a war it's not. Countless countries have had to cede territory and countless countries will again, and inshallah the US empire will soon be one of them. Only our bloated imperial vanity has us viewing such a scenario as a wild and insulting impossibility.

    it sucks

In this case it's better than the alternative, but yeah it sucks from their perspective.

I meant more in general, like it does suck that people who lose a war just have to accept whatever terms the winner wants, but that's kind of why people start wars in the first place.

Yeah, that's true. I'd have more sympathy if the people complaining weren't the biggest warmongers on earth, though. Really strong flavor of "what the hell, this is supposed to happen to other people not me" with this one.

Yeah, that's the most disgusting part, these guys have been screeching about fighting Russia with every last man, woman and child in Ukraine, and now they are mad that that isn't going to happen.
