Gov. JB Pritzker called out the Trump administration on Sunday for defending its decision to deploy National Guard troops to Chicago as necessary to fight violent crime in the city, even though the federal government has emphasized in court and Pentagon memos that the mission is mainly to protect federal immigration enforcement agents and federal property.

Appearing on ABC’s “This Week,” Pritzker said President Donald Trump and Vice President JD Vance’s ultimate goal is to bring in the National Guard to cities like Chicago and Portland, Oregon, to militarize the country’s Democratic-controlled enclaves as a form of political payback.

“They’re claiming in court that this is about protecting (U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement) facilities and ICE agents and not about crime on the streets,” the governor told the program’s host, George Stephanopoulos. “But then you hear Vice President Vance and the president of the United States contravening that and saying exactly what they actually think. They just want troops on the ground because they want to militarize, especially blue cities and blue states.”

He also keeps saying:

You have to go thru me first!!

From behind his desk in the comfort of his mansion while citizens are beat and disappeared.

Who gives a fuck what he's saying, he's a multi billionaire that would rather all this happen than a progressive willing to fight have his office instead.

We'd be better off if the fat rich fuck had a heart attack today, it would at least redistribute his billions to a handful of people...

Pritzker has been seen around Chicago throughout this whole debacle, specifically at protests. Seems like he's doing a little more than chilling at his office. Even when he said "you have to go through me" he was at a protest. I'm pretty anti-billionare, but at least this elected official is not cowering from the fascists.

Right? Fuck billionaires, but Pritzker is putting his money and his reputation on the line for his people. That's more than you can say for literally any other billionaire at the moment. I swear some people can't see nuance if it smacks them in the face.

The purity test, perfection-or-nothing mindset will the the death of progressive ideology.

I think your purity test has been the death of progressive ideology. This purity test is the reason Republicans can just run as Democrats in blue districts, get elected, and then ruin everything all while people scold those of us who point this out saying that we "need to fall in line" and excuse every bad action aiding Republucans as something necessary for some future action that quite literally never comes to fruition.

This lack of any meaningful goals or actions while taking every opportunity to spread empty rhetoric on TV is precisely why Republicans control every branch of government. It's time for liberals to fall in line with the rest of us so that we can finally turn things around.

MAGA got pissed about how the RNC was running so they took it over.

Progressives just whine that their hands are tied and they can’t do anything about it and it’s fucking pathetic.

Progressives just whine that their hands are tied and they can’t do anything about it and it’s fucking pathetic.

You mean liberals and their army of online supporters right? The politicians that constantly capitulate to Republican demands while their online supporters tell everyone that they can't do anything because they're a minority in the government. The same online supporters who cry that its progressives fault that Harris lost the election and that we should have just supported pro-capitalist, anti-immigrant policies. That we should have supported genocide. That we should have been inspired by our supposed candidate befriending Dick Cheney and gaining his approval. The same online supporters who tell people "now is not the right time" to oppose Republicans because they might do something bad.

A majority of the Democratic party consists of right-wing liberals, so direct your anger at them for abandoning the country for their own personal gain. Direct your anger at the disinformation stooges tellling you "don't let perfect be the enemy of good" and that repackaged Republican policy is "the good" we're supposed to rally around. They were supposed to be the opposition party but it turns out they're little more than controlled opposition.

No I said what I meant and mean what I say.

Progressives are always saying that democrats and republicans are making it so they can’t vote or run progressive candidates in primary when really all progressives want to do it whine in leftist dominated online spaces and not put in any work.

Progressives are always saying that democrats and republicans are making it so they can’t vote or run progressive candidates in primary

This has got to be the biggest load of crap I've seen in quite a long time. Liberals are always the ones whining about how everyone needs to fall in line behind their god awful candidates and ideas and blaming everyone else when it blows up in their face. This garbage might be believable to someone who doesn't pay attention to politics, but not to the rest of us. For the past decade, progressives have been blamed non-stop over liberals losing their seats in government. I've seen you on numerous occasions whining that its our fault Trump and the Republicans control every branch of government after the '24 election. Whining that we should fall in line. Whining that Joe Biden couldn't accomplish a god damned thing because of Republican opposition. Whining that we need to "vote blue no matter who." So you can take your blatant disinformation and stick it where it belongs.

They have no power in any arm of the government which is what the Americans who bothered to vote wanted.

This is pretty much all they can do for the next two years.

He has a point that the democrats stepping up and shutting down the government is going to hurt more people than keeping it running.

Elon is pissing off a lot of people with DOGE why should the democrats stepping in and take all the blame?

If Hillary made it in 2016 we’d have a much better supreme court and Roe v Wade would still be a thing but you sure showed all the libdems

It’s nice to see the majority of the democrats are reasonable people and will continue backing Biden.

You just perfectly described the ‘leftists’ who sat home instead of voting for Harris.

Need I go on? Are you going to continue to deflect from the argument and move goal posts rather than responding to anything relevant to the discussion?

For the first comment it was made seven months ago when Trump was president so it doesn’t fit either of these two lies you stated.

For the second comment it was about DOGE when Trump was president so it doesn’t fit either of these two lies you stated.

Third and fourth was about making the better of the two choice, Clinton vs Trump or Biden vs Trump when progressives didn’t have anyone with a chance so not blue no matter who.

I stand my my fifth comment but it also isn’t anything to do with complaining about Biden not accomplishing anything (because I think he got a lot done there are gullible people who fell for right-wing propaganda and believe otherwise) and not about ‘vote blue no matter who’ because that’s not in my beliefs.

So nice deep dive into my comments to find jack shit.

Do you think this comment from seven months ago when Trump was president was ‘Whining that Joe Biden couldn't accomplish a god damned thing because of Republican opposition’ or ‘Whining that we need to "vote blue no matter who."’?

Aren't these your words from just a few comments ago?

Progressives just whine that their hands are tied and they can’t do anything about it and it’s fucking pathetic.

And your words from apparently 7 months ago

They have no power in any arm of the government which is what the Americans who bothered to vote wanted.

You're right. Someone whining like that does seem fucking pathetic.

You mean your leading question loaded with qualifiers after moving the goal posts so many times? I instead chose to stay on the topic that started this discussion by quoting your initial post and comparing it to your previous post where you're engaging in the very behavior you're trying to convict others of?

    Imagine that...

The first example you gave was clearly not either of those.

The second example you gave was:

He has a point that the democrats stepping up and shutting down the government is going to hurt more people than keeping it running.

Elon is pissing off a lot of people with DOGE why should the democrats stepping in and take all the blame?

Do you think this comment from six months ago when Trump was president (he created DOGE, remember) was:

    A) ‘Whining that Joe Biden couldn't accomplish a god damned thing because of Republican opposition’

    B) ‘Whining that we need to "vote blue no matter who’

    C) Neither so why was it included as an example?

That's certainly a collection of words strung together. Nice job, bud!

I’ll be saving this conversation for the future.

That doesn't surprise me in the least. I know you'll also leave out all the parts where you've loaded your comments with qualifying statements while completely ignoring the broader topic in order to feel like you've 'won' by focusing on a very narrow and inconsequential aspect of my argument. Some might call that "fucking pathetic," but not me. I salute your bravery!
