We all grew up with free speech. That's what the USA has always been about. Now you have an admin who threatens and bullies taxpayers.

We all grew up with free speech.

Tell that to any Black American over the age of 65.

The USA was a political experiment started solely by white, landowning, 20-something slavers for the express intent of genociding as many Native Americans as possible. It's time for us to stop trying to "reclaim patriotism" and realize the American poltical experiment has devolved into fascism and must be dismantled.

Ok but you do see how 65 is getting up there in age, right? Like I'm sure there's a few people here above that, and OP should've accounted for that in their statement. But the vast majority of us have in fact grown up in the last 65 years where freedom of speech in the usa has been well and truly absolute.

The USA was a political experiment started solely by white, landowning, 20-something slavers for the express intent of genociding as many Native Americans as possible.

People over a hundred years dead do not define the present of a country. Hell, look at Germany. Sure they have a small nazi party but the nazis were only 80 years ago and aren't defining their present reality..

The political experiment line is just strange, seriously.

The thing that is kind of weird for non-Americans to understand is the way so many Americans seem to fetishise patriotism. Greatest country in the world! Freedom! Free speech! etc. We've all seen it all over social media for fuckin decades. And the praise for the military defending our freedoms! Seriously, when was the last time the US military was involved in a war that was actually in defense of America? It's been a fair fuckin while.

Most of us have been conscious that there were probably a lot of Americans who didn't feel the same way, especially those who weren't white, straight, male, etc. All that stuff they were so proud of was the emperor's new clothes all along.

For the sake of all the many decent people in America, and the rest of the world, I hope you guys can get a fuckin grip.

I see displays if nationalism from other countries all the time. We're not less human than you and there's something inherent in feeling pride or belonging to the place you come from.

I like you say it started with the intent of genocide and now has "devolved" into something worst.

Edgy.
