micromobility - Bikes, scooters, boards: Whatever floats your goat, this is micromobility
Ebikes, bicycles, scooters, skateboards, longboards, eboards, motorcycles, skates, unicycles, heelies, or an office chair: Whatever floats your goat, this is all things micromobility!
"Transportation using lightweight vehicles such as bicycles or scooters, especially electric ones that may be borrowed as part of a self-service rental program in which people rent vehicles for short-term use within a town or city.
micromobility is seen as a potential solution to moving people more efficiently around cities"

It's a little sad that we need to actually say this, but:
Don't be an asshole or you will be permanently banned.
Respectful debate is totally OK, criticizing a product is fine, but being verbally abusive will not be tolerated.
Focus on discussing the idea, not attacking the person.
When I was 20 I would have gone for this in a heartbeat, now at almost 50 I find myself thinking 15mph is too fast on my escooter.
But do you think your car a should only be able to go the maximum speedlimit when you're putting the pedal to the medal?
I'd assume no.
So why the double standard?
Because way less regulation and drunken irresponsible young people, probably...
A car is actually designed to handle road conditions, maneuver and brake at 100mph. These scooters are just big motors with no other safety mechanisms. There is basically no way to make this safe on the road with this form factor, which is why this is a novelty product being sold to wealthy F1 fans, likely with a mountain of liability paperwork.
Well, 100mph is really pushing it, sure, but honestly, the brakes are really fucking good and the mass is low. I've driven loads of motorcycles and these scooters, and whilst some or them are insanely hazardous, some of them are sturdy, well balanced and have brakes equal to motorcycles.
So as long as you protect yourself, have a helmet, I really don't see a massive difference to motorcycles.
A motorcycle has a solid 6-8" of suspension travel on top of 4" of tire so you don't go flying over the bars if someone leaves a sharpie marker in the road.
True enough, but I think you'd be surprised at how agile and stable some of those larger scoots are.
I had one with like 8" wheels and a seat and I was fucking terrified to drive the thing even when it went like 25-30km/h, especially on slightly cracked asphalt. On the opposite hand, I also had one with much larger tires, like 10-12", and I had absolutely no fear riding it some 60km/h, even on a sandy road. I'd of course slow down for corners and whatnot, but in general.
Scoots achieve much of the suspension but having it be much more diagonal than in bikes. In streetbikes, the suspension is almost vertical, whereas in a lot of the larger scoots, it's like at a 45 degree angle or more, to achieve suspension length without undue addition of height to the stepping board.
But agai, the point really is that cars can go much faster than they're usually used at, and I'm sure people would fucking hate having cars which had the max speed of like 85 mph.
