That's rare.

I've checked out dozens of sites where pedestrians or cyclists were killed by drivers. Municipalities pretty much never make those areas safe. Not even with paint lines.

My city just wrings their hands, issues a "that sucks" statement, and generally builds weird bike lanes where we don't need to really go. Lots of paint, but little safety.
