Kongoussi, July 26, 2025 (AIB) – The Bayiri Meebo Association of former trade students trained in Cuba offered, this Saturday in Kongoussi, a batch of food to internally displaced persons (IDPs) in Bam in response to the call for national mobilization launched by the President of Faso, Captain Ibrahim Traoré, in favor of vulnerable populations.
The donation consisted of 30 bags of rice and 30 five-liter cans of cooking oil. It was handed over to provincial authorities during a brief ceremony presided over by the provincial secretary general, Moussa Sanou, representing the Bam High Commissioner.
"It is in response to the President of Faso's call for solidarity that we have decided to take this action. It is our duty, as citizens, to show solidarity with our displaced compatriots," declared Kassoum Sawadogo, president of the association.
The provincial secretary general welcomed the association's gesture, which strengthens efforts to support the thousands of internally displaced persons in the province. He officially forwarded the donation to the Bam Provincial Directorate of Humanitarian Action for redistribution.
As a reminder, the Bayiri Meebo Association of Former Trades Students Trained in Cuba is made up of former students from the 600 Burkinabe sent to Cuba in 1986. It was created in December 2022 and has 40 members. It works for solidarity, fraternity, and contribution to national development.
