That's a nether portal, we're talking about an Ether portal. ;)
I played a mod that introduced portals between arbitrary locations, I'm guessing that's what the dad installed.
Does the Ether mod just put you to sleep lmao -- I prefer the Aether mods
It replaces the creepers with a weird old guy that says "Shhh!" as he sneaks up behind you and holds a cloth over your mouth
Still called the creeper though.
