California national guards troops and marines deployed to Los Angeles to help restore order after days of protest against the Trump administration have told friends and family members they are deeply unhappy about the assignment and worry their only meaningful role will be as pawns in a political battle they do not want to join.

Three different advocacy organisations representing military families said they had heard from dozens of affected service members who expressed discomfort about being drawn into a domestic policing operation outside their normal field of operations. The groups said they have heard no countervailing opinions.

“The sentiment across the board right now is that deploying military force against our own communities isn’t the kind of national security we signed up for,” said Sarah Streyder of the Secure Families Initiative, which represents the interests of military spouses, children and veterans.

Oh, well, too bad they are enslaved and can't voluntarily leave this job and work at a school or grocery store to avoid having to oppress their own countrymen against their will. Such a shame, but at least they still get their fat checks and social benefits!

yeah part of the deal is you're spending way less on housing and food so the wage goes further, which is how you afford the car financing.

Damn I didn't know that, maybe they were planning on going the direction of the Charger/Challenger and doing an electric muscle car but uuuhhhh the kind of person who likes muscle cars hates electric cars and the new Charger got absolutely lambasted by the community so maybe not.

These fuckers are even more pathetic than I imagined.

They literally just enlist to SA and murder in exchange for social benefits. They make far less than I expected, and while that makes me happy it also makes me angrier these idiots wreck the world at the command of the wealthy in exchange for basic goods they would get in even better conditions if they just sided with working people. I know they also benefit from living in military housing, etc., but these people are just fucking pathetic.

Far more respect for any working person at a grocery store than these losers.

The only real benefit at that level is that you don't pay for food or rent in the barracks, so if you are disciplined and not addicted to sports betting, you can save all that money, which is why people blow it on a Camaro when they are 22, but then basically have nothing outside of that.

It's also why people in the military get married so young and divorced so often, as if you are married you get to have a little house on base with all your rent and food paid for, but once you make rank and can just live in a house, suddenly living with your wife who you always hated doesn't sound all that appealing any more.
