During food distribution, multiple people got killed during the last weeks. There was no realistic way of entering the warzone. In the end, one of them gets killed by one of the war parties that claims, the other one did it... There is nothing to win for Israel in this case. They could just let a truck waiting im front of the boarder drive in. The group claims to have taken different types of supplies as aid, but they didn't give specific numbers. The only ones that I could find with numbers were 100kg of flour, 250kg of rice, and 600 diapers. Keep in mind, that's 2 50kg bags of flour, 5 50kg bags of rice, and 3 large boxes of diapers. You could fit the amounts they've taken for these 3 supplies in the back of a typical pickup truck. The supplies on the ship are clearly just symbolic. permalink fedilink source parent [–] zqps@sh.itjust.works 4 points 1 year ago (1 child) What utter nonsense! permalink fedilink source parent hideshow 2 child comments replies: [+] Gorilladrums@lemmy.world -7 points 1 year ago (1 child) What part is untrue? permalink fedilink source parent hideshow 2 child comments replies: [–] zqps@sh.itjust.works 5 points 1 year ago* (1 child) The entire take, rooted in a blatantly racist and frankly insane fantasy of Palestinian society. We're supposed to be very enraged and upset and afraid and respectful of Greta. They very much want us to be supporters of genocide as well if we don't display the proper sackcloth and ashes or participate in the 3 minutes hate. Yes, it's a PR stunt. I do sympathize with Greta and the rest. They're trying but it's tilting at windmills. Anyhow, yeah, stick me in a concentration camp with my family and some shiny people show up? I'm looking for any angle to save my family, including taking hostages and killing anyone I have to. permalink fedilink source parent hideshow 2 child comments replies: [–] Gorilladrums@lemmy.world -1 points 1 year ago (1 child) Yes, you're exactly right. The only thing Gaza has that they can use as leverage are the hostages, and when 12 new ones show up right at their doorstep, are they going to let the opportunity pass them by? Of course not. The activists themselves understand this which is why they didn't make a real effort to actually land. The point is to generate media attention by getting intercepted. You would think this is common sense, but people on this site lack it. The sheer amount of users here who are simply incapable of even explaining their positions is baffling. permalink fedilink source parent hideshow 2 child comments replies: [–] Zenith@lemm.ee 3 points 1 year ago They were arrested in international waters, we cannot know if an attempt to land would be made because there was never an opportunity to do so.
