When she finally came to bed to spoon and apologize, again, we fit together oddly because she was now a foot too long.

Huh, guess this was a flop. Was trying to juxtapose the mundane reconciliation with suddenly realizing ones partner had been replaced by something taller and that happening via physical contact with that other in what should otherwise be a safe and comforting space and situation.
