That's what I don't get about the gerontocracy. Like, he can't be in great health. He can hear the long dark calling his name every night as he drifts off to another apnea-laden slumber. There's no long term consequences to anything you do, so just do something goddamn fun. Say free ponies for everyone. Dump a birthday cake on Mike Johnson's head. Anything but the status quo but dumber.
