So we may have to wait for their next election before Elon gets can to buy Canada. By law, the next election has to occur by October 5th, but the opposition will likely trigger an election at the earliest opportunity. This is why Trudeau also delayed the next next sitting of parliament until March, to allow the party to elect a new leader before the inevitable election. They threatened to do so to get Trudeau out but there's no way they'd go through with it.
