Like there are pictures of mangled bodies and bikes but because they are not ON the square, the statement is false?

Did.... did I understand this correctly?

The statement made over on Hexbear and others is that the "Tian'anmen Square Massacre," the commonly reported idea that the PLA swept into Tian'anmen Square and subsequently massacred "10,000" people as reported by Western outlets like BBC, is a fabrication designed as atrocity propaganda that utterly distorts the real character of the tragedy of June 4th, 1989 to serve Western interests. The statement is not that there were not hundreds of killings that day, but that the scope and character reported commonly by Western Outlets has no real evidence supporting it. For a more in-depth look at what Marxists commonly understand the events of June 4th, consider reading Another View of Tiananmen.

I'm sorry but no, that is not at all what hexbear people have tried to tell me. They have repeatedly said that no one died in the event at all, with no distinction made about it happening on the square or not. I'm glad that doesn't seem to be what you think, but i also don't appreciate being told what I've experienced. This has happened several times and not once have they expressed the nuance you have here.

Does it not bother you that you're having to resort to outright lying?

No, because I'm not. This was what i experienced when i first came to lemmy a bit over a year ago (i think? It was when reddit made their api paid). Things may have changed since, i wouldn't know since i blocked the instance after i was sure of what was going on after like a month.

I'm not interested in arguing about whether you're telling the truth or not: I know you're not, and you know you're not. I'm just curious about whether having to knowingly lie like you are cause you to question your position.

Well, you seem to be more certain about this than i have been about anything, ever. Really no point to argue anything at that point.
