I think across the board WASPs just can’t cook. The US also has infamous disgusting slop food made by middle-class white suburbanites. Hell, in the US we’re somewhat famous because here even the rich eat garbage, dress like garbage, and enjoy garbage. Us poors do so by necessity, but they do it by choice (AND anything even remotely worth a damn is prohibitively expensive to boot!)

    I remember a theory that prominent southern families lacked cooking skills and cooking traditions because it was a task done by slaves, and so post emancipation they could afford good ingredients but have terrible technique. But as wealthy white folk they maintained status and influence (and could afford more children)

    Colonel Sanders' family was working class so they never had slaves, and so it was a groundbreaking innovation that a white man with white staff had food with herbs and spices in it.
