That's just the New Deal Democrats in a nutshell. We've passed that point though, there's no organized left to threaten them into compromise so they have free reign to be as openly monstrous as they please.

Do not think they are rational actors who carefully calculate their moves. Suffering is the point, and by delegating private companies to manage Healthcare, they're allowed to watch people die due to a lack of coverage and pretend as if their hands are clean in this matter.

But if they were to nationalize it... then whenever insurance decides to deny people coverage, the people will focus their hatred on them.
