This is a Bavarian specialty called "Öbergruatznloafdl".
It's made from oats, rye beer, Oabatzder cheese and cow hooves.
Traditionally it is served by a proposing husband to a would-be-bride's family. Large amounts of salt are added to symbolize that the marriage won't spoil, and to demonstrate wealth.
I don't understand how any of this results in the slice being larger than the loaf.
