True, but there's also a lot of racism. An Italian fencer said he lost the gold medal match against a Hong Konger because the judges were favouring the Hong Konger because they were Asian.

And two Tennis players threw a hissy fit over losing against a Chinese player, Zheng Qinwen, who later won gold
