▲ 994 ▼ Most young people are no longer proud to be Americans, poll finds (www.axios.com) submitted 3 years ago by FlyingSquid@lemmy.world to c/politics@lemmy.world 359 comments fedilink hide all child comments Overall, 39% of U.S. adults say they are "extremely proud" to be American in the most recent poll. Meanwhile, only 18% of those aged 18-34 said the same, compared to 40% of those aged 35-54 and 50% of those 55 and over. 18% is still too high. As Obama's pastor said, God damn America! Americans have very little to be proud of at this point.

Good news is, there's a big old world out there, with plenty of countries to explore! I sincerely hope one day you'll be able to find a country where you'll be just as happy as I am in the US. :) permalink fedilink source parent hideshow 2 child comments replies: [–] queermunist@lemmy.ml -3 points 3 years ago (1 child) I'm in the heart of the empire. I'm right where I need to be. permalink fedilink source parent hideshow 2 child comments replies: [–] DreamerOfImprobableDreams@kbin.social 1 point 3 years ago I know it's confusing because so many of the main characters are humans, but Star Wars actually doesn't take place on Earth-- it's set in a galaxy far, far away. So unfortunately, you're going to have to travel a few hundred million light years to make it to the heart of the Empire. But the good news is Coruscant is an absolutely lovely city, with tons of fun stuff to do! permalink fedilink source parent
