▲ 994 ▼ Most young people are no longer proud to be Americans, poll finds (www.axios.com) submitted 3 years ago by FlyingSquid@lemmy.world to c/politics@lemmy.world 359 comments fedilink hide all child comments Overall, 39% of U.S. adults say they are "extremely proud" to be American in the most recent poll. Meanwhile, only 18% of those aged 18-34 said the same, compared to 40% of those aged 35-54 and 50% of those 55 and over. 18% is still too high. As Obama's pastor said, God damn America! Americans have very little to be proud of at this point.

I'm not. permalink fedilink source hideshow 2 child comments replies: [–] scottywh@lemmy.world 19 points 3 years ago (1 child) Why would anyone be proud of something they had zero control over? It's extremely stupid. If there's anything people should take pride in it would be their own work and accomplishments... Certainly not where they were born or anything else equally arbitrary that could have just as easily gone another way. permalink fedilink source parent hideshow 2 child comments replies: [–] atkion@sh.itjust.works 5 points 3 years ago Based Carlin permalink fedilink source parent
