Queer often means "Anyone who isn't both heterosexual AND cisgender." Some people throw in "allosexual" in the mix too because some cishet aces would call themselves queer, which is valid too because identity is ultimately personal and up to one's preferred interpretation. Speaking of that, you say that you don't look at queerness and gender identity as necessarily related, but some queer people do, and that is to be respected even if you wouldn't use such terminology for yourself in the context of gender identity.
