Seems like even popular kids shows (PAW Patrol, Daniel Tiger’s Neighborhood, Superkitties, Firebuds, etc) aren’t on most torrent indexers. There’s KimCartoon, but it’s 10x more effort than setting up a series in Sonarr and letting it do its thing. I’m sure there’s more on BTN than what I’m on, but getting accepted there’s not exactly a walk in the park.

How do you get your kids shows? Specific torrent or Usenet indexers?

My friend lives in the USA I live in Canada and her birthday is coming up, we both love watching movies every night before we sleep but find it hard to do due to her only having netflix which we have tried but USA and Canada's being different, I can't use a VPN on a PS4 while waiting for my PC's PSU to come in the mail. She doesn't have a VPN, or a pc.

For her birthday I bought a bunch of stuff for her and wanted to get a cheap 512GB usb stick to load up fully on movies for us to watch. I want to throw it in the package with for her.

I'm just curious how risky it would be, I know people ship drugs all the time, but I'm an over thinker, was thinking of carefully opening the plastic, loading it up and gluing it back.

Hey guys. As the titles says, any recommendations for a good movie site? I've been using popcorn and letmewatchthis for years, but one is dead and the other mostly consist of movies from streaming services. Currently using OnStream which is kinda ok, just wondering if I'm missing out.

Cheers

If your Windows 10/11 desktop colors are set to dark mode then just add -platform windows:darkmode=2 to the shortcut you use to launch qBittorrent in the Target box of the shortcut properties. (have a space after the last quotation mark before you add this string) Maybe everyone is doing this already, but I just thought to finally look into it today after years of using it and wanted to share the info.

EDIT: See urf-bound's comment below for an even better solution!

*A slim PS2.

*Any game on the ESR compatibility list - - is known to work. If you get an unlisted game to work, please add it to the list!

This guide is mostly based on these 2 videos by these cool people! Check them out:

  • ImJecht

  • MrMario2011

I wanted to play Crash of The Titans, which I had played years ago, but the DVD vanished somewhere. Researching how to run a burnt up DVD, I was kind of startled with all the soft modding wizardry people do. I have gotten the game to work in a pretty uncomplicated way that I would like to share!

This is a relatively new development and has only become possible in the last 4 years. A cool person (CTurt) found a way to exploit the PS2's DVD movie playing capabilities to execute arbitrary code. On the technical details page for the exploit, CTurt says:

There already exists a tool (ESR patcher) which patches games to appear like DVD videos so that they'll be accepted by the 'mechacon' (security processor), and an associated loader program (ESR) that boots these patched "video discs". Chaining together this new exploit with that ESR loader would allow you to patch your backups so that they could just be burned and run on your console from boot as though they were official discs.

Such a chaining of tools is what another cool person going by "Jabu" decided to publish! Here is how you can take advantage of this tool:

Links:

ImgBurn:

FreeDVDBoot ESR Patcher:

UltraISO:

FreeDVDBoot Github page with technical details:

You need:

  • A DVD - it must be a DVD and not a CD. Strong preference should be given to DVD-R, but you may get it to work with formats like DVD+RW. A random DVD from the store worked perfectly for me - this may not be the case for you depending on the condition of your PS2, in which case you might want to buy from a more fancy brand. ImJecht needed a Taiyo Yuden DVD.
  • A computer with a DVD burner.
  • Image burning software - ImgBurn worked for me, but if you have issues the FreeDVDBoot Github page mentions that trying a different tool like CDBurnerXP may fix them.
  • FreeDVDBoot ESR Patcher by Jabu.
  • If your game is CD-based, you will get UltraISO.

Step-by-step:

  1. Get the image file for your game - either download it from a trustworthy source like the ones listed in this subreddit's megathread or back it up from a CD/DVD you already have.
  2. Download your image burning software.
  3. Download the FreeDVDBoot ESR Patcher.
  4. If your game is CD-based, you will need to use UltraISO to convert whatever format your image file is using (for example, BIN/CUE) into an ISO. Open up the program, open your file, and go to File -> Properties. You will now do the following changes: First, change the media type to 4.7(3.7)GB. Second, on the "CD File System" pane, you will click the "UDF" box. You will then unclick anything else except for ISO 9660. Finally, on the "ISO 9660 FileName Format" pane, you will choose Windows/Unix(3.1). Click OK, go to File -> Save As and save it somewhere. This entire process is described by MrMario2011.
  5. Whether you did step 4 or not, by now you have a working ISO. Simply use the FreeDVDBoot ESR Patcher to modify your ISO - it's instantaneous.
  6. Use your image burning software to burn that into your DVD. If you want to be on the safer side, you may choose the slowest Write Speed possible - 1x in both ImgBurn and CDBurnerXP. It seems to be controversial whether this actually achieves more safety.
  7. Play your game!

I don't think we're allowed name specific software names?

So I'll leave it at that

Thanks

When my now 20 something son was about 9 I had a friend pirate us a movie not yet available to rent that we had been very excited to watch. Now my son is very by the books probably hadn’t broken more than ten rules in his life and would make himself physically ill if he even did it accidentally. At 6 he was constantly speed checking me while driving, worried about how full the gas tank was etc. While watching the disc on the laptop while laying on the top bunk at night watching it he asked where I got it, I told him my friend hoping to leave it at that, but he never let anything go. I finally admitted to him 1/2 hour or more into it that it was pirated. Poor kid started panicking about how illegal it was, so I tried to rationalize that it was fine we would be ok. He was terrified we would get caught, I asked how is that even possible? He answered that what if the cops drove by and looked into the second floor bedroom window and saw us watching a movie on a laptop screen! He did begrudgingly finish the movie but he really didn’t enjoy it lmao.

(He now watches and plays mostly pirated things lol so he did get over it)

I am new to pirating, and I'm starting by getting myself off of Spotify. The problem is, I'd like to download all the songs on my Liked playlist locally. Is there a more efficient way to download all of them than just individually searching them on mp3 sites? Also, what sites do yall reccomend?

I've been noticing an influx of posts saying "there's a ton of ads on such and such site now, even with adblock!" or "there's fake download buttons on such and such site now!"

You are probably seeing more ads because - starting this month (June) - Chrome has started to force extensions to comply with changes that butcher their ad, redirect, and tracker blocking capabilities. Chrome is limiting the number of rules extensions can have to only 30,000, and disabling many of the rules used by adblocking extensions. uBlock Origin comes preloaded with over 300,000 filtering rules, and you can manually add pretty much as many more as you want

Technically, these changes are only currently being enforced on pre-stable versions of Chrome, but many extension developers are likely following Google's advice to implement the changes by this month regardless

If you want to continue having effective adblock and privacy extensions, you should do the first thing the Megathread says and use Firefox or one of its forks. If you continue to use Chrome (or, afaik, any Chromium based browser), your extensions will at best only be able to block 1/10th of the ads that you can with uBlock Origin out of the box

And if you have not been using an adblocker at all... I mean I can get behind masochism, but not like that...

I don't understand why people would prefer to download a single episode of a series than the whole thing at once what am I missing?

I'm currently outside the US, and I have an uncle in the US who is elderly, broke, not very tech savvy, and he doesn't have cable, Internet or a cell phone.

There's a TV show I know he really wants to watch but he can't, so I was thinking about putting it on a USB and sending it to him. I was also going to maybe put some new movies and TV shows on there, and maybe some 8 and 16 bit rom sets.

Does anyone know if US customs usually checks USB drives coming into the country? What about external hard/SSD drives?
