If you're not living under the rock, the newest TS release of Deadpool and Wolverine, the picture looks pristine like its from a Bluray, but obviously they recorded from a theatre. How did they get such pristine image if other TS releases such crap. What gives?

Just currious, I imagine that most people here use torrents, so what are your personal "pirate code"/philosophies regarding seeding ratios?

Personally, I try to seed to at least 200%. That way it turns into a positive-sum game.

Bit of a glazing post but for some reason it's surprising to me that someone keeps on top of fighting YouTube as fast as STN does. They've pushed out about 10 updates over the last month and, unless it's a complex problem, haven't made us wait more than a day before trying to fix it.

The Error 403 issue has been a weekly fight for them recently yet each patch they've fixed it in some capacity. Even stating that the most recent update is optional, only for people that the previous one didn't work for.

Can't help but praise them.

Is there anything similar to a kindle, but one that'd allow you to pirate books? Or not per se allow, but you'd be able to?

I dont know jack shit about kindles nor ebooks and all of that, and reading on my phone is kinda tiring, so Im just wondering.

Hopefully this was cohesive enough..

Oh, and I think some kindled you might be able to upload books, but I dont really wish to support/be tied to amazon..

Original Title: There is a lot of misinformation about the 'outdatedness' of MP3s. While Opus is great at lower bitrates like 192, a LAME 3.100-encoded V0 MP3 is even better (both quality and bang-for-your-buck space saving.) All MP3s are not the same and most people tend to use poor or outdated codecs.

The best non-FLAC audio quality is a LAME 3.100 encoded MP3 at the V0-preset or 320 CBR if you want to be excessive. If you want to save space and still have great quality, yes, 192 Opus is a great choice. However, there is a lot of misinformation about the 'outdatedness' of MP3s.

For 192, I agree, but for 320kbp/s, the only reason MP3 wouldn't score higher than OPUS is if it's using an outdated codec. The push for Opus and the scorn for MP3 makes me wonder if people are aware how many codecs exist for MP3 and that not all MP3s are alike.

People have these awfully-encoded 320 MP3s and just figured everything was like that.

Opus basically stops at 192. I've seen some calling 192 FLAC level quality while also saying a 320 MP3 is a no-go -- this is a lot of what I'm seeing with the Opus diehards. This mindset show people don't fully understand what they are talking about. It's true that at 192, it becomes harder to tell the difference, but it's certainly not impercetible. At V0/320, that is when it is arguably impercetible but even to this day diehard audiophiles will swear they hear a difference.

If you really love Opus, great. But stop hating on MP3s and telling people that a 192 will be better sounding than a properly-encoded V0. This is literally not true and is a disservice. If you don't want FLACs but still want great sound quality, always convert your FLACs to V0 MP3, encoded by LAME 3.100.
