After reading the FAQ on massgrave.dev (That is the correct site, right?), my understanding of HWID activation is that it just uses a Hardware ID to generate a ticket to the Microsoft servers. Even the docs say that this is easily patchable.

So. Like. Why not do it?

Hey everyone, some context to add to this title, I'm a software engineer working on a paid software I'll release soon.

It is a self hosted gallery similar to Picasa but improved in a lot of ways and focused on privacy for the user.

I'm starting to implement a license verification and was wondering how to make it to not be a headache to the end user. And after a while I started going through the rabbithole of "if a random dude do that it will compromise the license verification" and I just don't want to make it a whole prison for the user just for the sake of blocking John Doe Pirate.

So here is my question, what would make you not pirate a software and actually pay for it?

Note: seeing the negativity toward monthly subscription (as I expected), I think I'll offer a one time payment with a possibility of monthly payment for it instead. The goal of the monthly subscription was mainly to offer continuous support to the project and allow the user to pay a small amount monthly instead of a huge payment once and I overlooked the "you'll own nothing and be happy" part of it.

I saw a post on /r/plex asking how people who use Plex app their only streaming service are doing it. I got halfway through writing up a response detailing my server setup before realizing I was on the Plex subreddit, not the Piracy subreddit, and that I was being a little too detailed for polite company.

It's a good response though though, and I wanted to share it, so I'm posting it here.

I cancelled everything and only use Plex now.

After I got a laptop, I used the parts from my gaming PC to upgrade my server, so it has a Ryzen 7, 16 GB of ram, and a Nvidia GeForce 1050. The video card does a good job transcoding video, especially for people watching from outside the house, as there are multiple external users. The CPU is useful for doing sonic analysis on my music to have better radio stations in Plexamp, as well as other tasks like generating video preview thumbnails.

I put two 12 TB hard drives in for a total of 24 TB. The two drives are in a single ZFS pool mounted at /mnt/data so I can access all of the data from one mount point. I'm planning on adding two more 12 TB hard drives soon because I ran out of storage while building my music library.

I know keeping everything in a single pool with no parity is bad - I plan on getting more drives one day and using a raid config with proper parity, but for now I just have a backup script that syncs my personal files and media that is hard to find to Backblaze B2, probably about 12 TB in total.

I have a docker container that runs transmission and routes all traffic through ExpressVPN. I also run NZBGet, a Usenet client, set to use Newshosting as a provider over an encrypted connection.

I'm running Radarr (for movies), Sonarr (for TV shows), and Lidarr (for music). All three of those have NZBGeek and Nyaa.si as an indexer. For Lidarr, I also have Headphones as an indexer. I run Jackett so I can add 1337x and a couple of semi-private trackers as an indexer. They are all set up to use Transmission to download torrents over VPN and NZBGet to download files from Usenet.

I use nzb360 pro on my phone (Android) to manage the collection and downloads. I can add TV shows or movies to Radarr or Sonarr in the app, and then Radarrr or Sonarr will search my indexers for the files, send them to transmission or NZBGet for download and import them when they are done.

I can add artists to Lidarr the same way, but most of my music comes from import lists. I have an import list that syncs with my Spotify playlists and followed artists, and import lists to grab the top 200 artists of several last.fm tags. The result is a couple hundred thousand songs, mostly from artists I've never heard. They all have sonic analysis done by Plex, though, so I have an amazing ability to discover new music from the radio and "similar tracks" feature.

I know there are a lot of improvements that can be made on this system. Jackett and NZBGet have better alternatives, using tidal-dl, ect, and I plan to explore all of those soon. I also want to run something like calibre-web and get things like books, audiobooks, comics, and manga. But it's been really fun just to get it this far, it's the only thing I use for video now, and it's pretty close to replacing Spotify, too.

Recently I looked up the Borderlands movie on Amazon. I wanted to watch it to see how bad it actually was. Amazon wanted $20 for it, even though it was a piece of garbage. I ultimately pirated the film because I don't want to encourage hollywood to keep making garbage movies like this. And because they want more than it costs to see it in a theater. Streaming is in a pretty bad state right now but I never thought we would get to the point where it costs more to stream a movie than see it in theaters

Today I saw a post talking about the brazilian "green steam" a steam like engine that let you torrent games for free, you guys seemed astonished by the idea of having a free steam, like it was something from outside of this world, ohhhh poor children of the sea! you have no idea of how advanced piracy is in underdeveloped and developing countries. And that's why I am writing this, so your heroes and be known, and your brains blown, by how advanced and beautiful piracy can be, let's sail:

Charpter 1: Fresh sails

I was a 7 years old brazilian, when my father came back from a work trip in China, we were a middle class family, my father brought us gifts, while my brothers got clothes and other ordinary gifts, I got a unlocked (cracked as you may prefer) Playstation 2, at that time (2008) it was a huge deal, as most of the hardware was new in underdeveloped nations, due to big companies not exporting to underdeveloped nations to keep profit growth. They soon realize it was a big mistake as ps2 was being unlocked and sold, for profit, in underdeveloped countries by China, people began buying ps2 en mass just to unlock and sell for profit, that made the ps2 the most sold console in gaming history, a big achievement attributed to us pirates, forgers and petty criminals. Sony won the console war, but the real winner were us, the third world citizens, that could buy 3 games for a dollar, an original game was 20 dollars at the time, the game economy in Latin America and Asia blew outside of any predictions, paving a calm sea for piracy, people would pay less than a dollar to play any game, watch any movie, read any book, the poor all of sudden weren't so poor, as it had affordable access to knowledge, clothing, culture and leisure.

Charpter 2: Economy grows, pirates crumble

As Economy grows the consumer becomes more powerful and critical and the consumer wanted everything, from games in his native language to online multi-player, and the industry gave them, consoles and games became affordable, due to the boost in the economy and higher minimum wages, kids would get a brand new (and not unlocked) ps3 for Christmas and play black ops 1 and the little big planet all night, with online multi-player, something that in 2011 was a PC only thing, but PCs where expensive as hell at the time, with the new multi-player or nothing mentality, piracy in games started to crumble, games were translated to Spanish, Portuguese (brazilian version) and other Asian languages and multi-player wasn't only splitscreen anymore. Clothing and movies meet the fate as netflix became a cheap must have and original clothing became affordable, piracy was no more, and with that the PC console wars started in the third world, the winner would decide the future of the pirated games.

Charpter 3: The Dutchman flies again

Out of nowhere the Pandemic became a reality, thousands of deaths, people being thrown in common graves, hospitals working above its capacities, chaos in the streets, people started to belive it was humanity's last breath, mostly of the countries around the world declared full lockdown, people started loosing their jobs, the world economy started to fall, the market was saturated with stream services and mid games and in addition the working people became poorer and poorer by the months passing by, that's when the Dutchman flew again, piracy started to grow as people became more desperate to relive themselves from certain viral death, pirate movie sites became the most popular host for us sea criminals, due to a overly saturated stream services market, and games became a distraction from the political and mental turmoil generated by the lockdown, PC was affordable and popular after winning the console war and piracy saw a clean horizon to sail and grow. thanks to those sea heroes that keept our minds safe amidst the storm!

Charpter 4: The American armada strikes back

After the lockdowns the pirates did not back down, piracy was thriving, and that was bad news for the big companies that wanted to sink those copyright menaces, the FBI started working with other federal polices from other countries to halt piracy, and so they did, movies, animes, games, books and academic resources, nothing was safe from the American Armada, their cannons fired and our ships sank, 10 out of 10 sites in the initial page of Google were taken down, for the first time they were arresting and persecuting pirate site owners, it was war, but the poor already chose its champions. Too many streaming services for too much money? Don't worry, there's pirate devices that can transform any TV in a smart TV and play anything from any stream platform. Games are are expensive and terrible lately? Don't worry, all hail hydra! The green steam can torrent you any game (fuck denovo tho)!!! Even ps4 got unlocked and sold just like the good old days of the ps2, all of suddenly piracy wasn't threatened anymore in the third world, it was growing again, even against the federal threat.

  • Conclusion:

Piracy cannot be killed as the poor keep growing and the industry keeps throwing trash at us to consume, consume and consume.

Hope you guys have a wonderful day! Don't forget to donate to your favorite cracker and repacker.

Shout-out to that brazilian pirate merchant that threatened to set himself on fire if police confiscated their goods, you are the goat! I bet you would love this sub.

TL;DR: There you have. The full 24 book collection for you, for free.

Note: If you don't know what this is about, check out the previous post 7 months ago.

I'm back. And as I promised, here I am.

It took a lot of time and hard tedious manual work to scan, review the OCR-ized text and adding the lines the scan couldn't capture… but there you have. All of them. For free. Digital, in epub. Just look for them on Anna, Z-lib or LibGen. For your search, lookup for キングダムハーツ or キングダム ハーツ (this has a space between the words, this depends on the book itself as they were taken from Amazon JP ISBN).

I want to thank all of you that DM me asking for donations. First of all, thank you. Second, I never came for that and if you're one of them, you can assure I didn't accepted any. But still, thanks for your help!

Reading the first volume made me remember when I was kid and played the game for the first time they released.

I hope you enjoy them as much as I did.

I download my fair share of unknown movies, and since I'm not fluent I always download the subtitles independently using the same words, usually "my movie" + srt. It always gave me opensubtitles links or other related websites. But recently, with the same input for the same movie I get a bunch of Amazon or whatever-retailer links.

opensubtitles is still there, no problem, but it is such a sudden and radical shift that I wonder if it's intentional.

Anyway, there is no way I am paying 40 bucks for this probably very mid old ass movie.

When I use my VPN I can't do anything else like work from home, online banking, Etsy, or many other things. Right now I am running without VPN, which is asking for trouble. Is there a way to send all torrent tracking through a VPN and send the rest through my regular connection? Alternatively, I have an AMD Cuebox running Linux. Maybe I could set it up as a torrent device and remote in? Is there a VPN with command line interface? Really this should be two questions.
