Football Australia has promised to act swiftly against fans accused of shouting over an Indigenous welcoming ceremony and making Nazi salutes at the Australia Cup final, prompting widespread outrage.

More than 16,000 fans were in attendance at Western Sydney Stadium on Saturday for the football final where Macarthur FC recorded a 2-0 win over semi-professional outfit Sydney United 58.

On Sunday, Football Australia said it “strongly condemns” the incident while revealing that eight people were evicted from western Sydney’s CommBank Stadium.

Starting in the 1960s at the height of the Cold War, Pine Gap was used by the US to spy on the Soviet missile tests, although it is most likely the Soviets knew about Pine Gap. The ALP responded that it supported everything Pyne said.

Directed against the Howard government’s anti-worker WorkChoices legislation, Your Rights at Work protests were the biggest working class mobilisations in Australian history. The campaign cost John Howard his seat in parliament and tipped his Liberal government from power.

Yet the fruits of the campaign were meagre for the trade union movement. Labor rolled into government at the 2007 election with a blank cheque from unions about what reforms to enact. The result was the Fair Work Act, a suite of minimal improvements alongside the retention of most longstanding anti-union laws.
