Hi all, I've been using VPNs since 2013, and of all the VPNs I've used, IVPN has been the best overall.

IVPN Pros:

  • Crypto payments
  • Account number rather than username, password.
  • Live chat and email support
  • Good prices at ~$6 per month.
  • Audited no logs infrastucture and app security patching.
  • Good amount of servers.
  • DNS tracker blocklists.
  • Optional Obfuscation when connecting via OpenVPN.
  • Protocol and Port configurability. OpenVPN, WireGuard, many ports available for both protocols.
  • Linux, Mac, Windows, Android (and maybe more) GUI apps.
  • Good setup guides.

Cons: None

Overall, IVPN is my most highly rated VPN and I recommend using it for any type of VPN user. I've played FPS games like Battlefield 4 with it, and MMOs like World of Warcraft.

Thanks IVPN team. :-)

This is a timely reminder to all IVPN customers who have a Pro plan with Port Forwarding activated, on 30 September:

  • all previously open ports will be closed

  • port forwarding as a tab/feature will be removed from My Account and other areas of the IVPN website

I've been using IVPN for years and I was excited to hear about the proxy service being offered because Firefox has multi-account containers that you can configure with a proxy. I hoped I'd be able to use my existing IVPN subscription to location-scope some of those containers.

Unfortunately, this would require me leaving the VPN on at all times. I do not want to do this, the vast majority of my traffic does not need to go over a VPN. If there were a way to enable auth for the proxy itself I could only use the service for those containers and no where else.

Is this currently possible with IVPN? I don't believe it is, and if that's the case, does anyone know a provider with whom this would be possible?

Hi community,

I've just became a subscriber of iVPN and I see that the F-Droid version (with AntiTracker) has had it's latest release on 9th July whilst the Play Store version had it's latest update on 15th of August.

How much time will the F-Droid version be behind? Maybe it's smarter to use the Play Store version since I will be late with bugfixes that also (potentially) fixes security issues? Curious about your thoughts.

And just a headsup to the iVPN team: the Accresent link to the app doesn't work.

Intro

Tom Spark has been attacking me and r/vpns lately because I won't let him shill on this subreddit. I have gotten tired of the false accusations and spam from him so I've made this post to compile his deceptive behavior. If anyone has additional information about such behavior from him, please share, and I'll update the post accordingly.

Tom Spark might attempt to divert attention from this post by targeting me rather than addressing the concerns raised. It's essential to be wary of fallacious arguments or any other tactics that appear insincere. Also, approach any defenders of Tom Spark with a degree of skepticism, as there's a good possibility they are Tom Spark himself.

Who is Tom Spark?

Tom Spark is a Youtuber who runs the channel Tom Spark's Reviews and vpntierlist.com. He also runs the subreddits r/NetflixViaVPN and r/vpncomparison.

He claims that he's a objective VPN reviewer but in actuality he promotes the VPN that offers him highest affiliate commissions. He is currently shilling TorGuard and will do anything to make affiliate sales including lying, misleading and slandering.

TorGuard

TorGuard is a very shady VPN company that deserves a post of its own. But for now here are some links you can use to learn more about Tom Spark's '#1 VPN':

Alt Accounts

Tom Spark runs a large group of alt accounts on Reddit to shill TorGuard, promote his content/affiliate links and slander individuals he dislikes.

His confirmed main account is u/newslooter.

His known alt accounts are:

He might have additional alt accounts. If you're aware of any, please inform me, and I'll include them on the list.

How to Spot a Tom Spark Account

You can easily identify his alt accounts since they usually exhibit the following characteristics:

Promotes TorGuard Relentlessly

His alt accounts shill torguard.

Example 1, Example 2, Example 3, Example 4

Posts 'Tom Spark's Reviews' Videos

I've literally never seen anyone promote his videos other then himself. Most of Tom Sparks videos are low quality glorified ads and I have a hard time believing anyone other then himself would share them. I suggest watching them for yourself and see what I'm talking about.

Example 1, Example 2, Example 3

Posts at the Same Time As Tom Spark's Main Account

All these accounts post between around 1am-4pm AEST. Data gathered with Reddit Metis

Active in r/vpncomparison (Tom Spark's Subreddit)

Tom Spark's runs the subreddit /r/vpncomparison (head mod is newslooter). The subreddit is a mostly a ghost town. 50%+ of the posts are just Tom Spark videos with 0 comments. But of course Tom Spark is active there with his alt accounts.

Example 1, Example 2, Example 3

Requests VPN Related Subreddits

Tom's Accounts often request VPN related subreddit on r/redditrequest. Probably wants to use them to shill his affiliate links.

Example 1, Example 2, Example 3, Example 4

Accounts Are Bought

Tom Spark's alt accounts often shows signs of being bought. For example u/Luchalandon was:

  • Mostly posting memes.
  • Stopped posting for 2 years
  • Came back a few months ago and posted a few comments and gif to get more karma (to make account look real and reach karma posting requirements for subreddits). Post even ended up getting removed for being a recent repost.
  • Once he gets a post and a comment with lots of upvotes, the account switches to almost exclusivly promoting TorGuard VPN and posting Tom Spark Review videos.

His other accounts have similar traits.

Hates Techlore

Techlore is a Youtuber who makes videos about privacy and tech. Not sure what the history between Techore and Tom Spark is but he seems to really dislike him.

Tom Spark often links to Tech-Bore. A YouTube channel dedicated to 'calling out' Techlore. I put calling out in quotes because the issues raised are incredibly weak such as forgetting to answer a patreon question lmao. Honestly I wouldn't be surprised if Tech-Bore is ran by Tom Sparks since the only accounts who share Tech-Bores videos are Tom Sparks Alts. They are just such good buddies lol .

Example 1, Example 2, Example 3

Hates u/daiqo

u/daiqo is a frequent user of r/VPNTorrents. Daiqo often calls out the shilling done by Tom's alts. This has lead to Tom Spark basically harassing Daiqo. He even accuses Daiqo of having schizophrenia for promotin...

Has anyone else noticed any issues trying to torrent while using iVPN this week? I haven't had any issues since I purchased a yearlong membership, but suddenly my torrents are stalling regardless of the server I choose. The torrent speed will go up to about 2.5mpbs (download) and then stall out, slowly decreasing until it hits zero. I've had VPNs prevent me from torrenting in the past which is why I chose iVPN. Has anyone else had this issue? If so, I would love to hear a solution.

It stared a couple of days ago: some websites just became inaccessible when VPN is enable as if I don't have internet, while others work fine maybe a bit slower but not sure. For example, anything Google like YouTube & Gmail, and so on doesn't work, Reddit doesn't work, Amazon doesn't work, but everything Meta like Facebook & Instagram work, SimpleLogin works, Twitter works, Proton Mail works.

I didn't change any of the settings. At some point it just stopped working for some websites

I understand that IVPN used to have a server UA-1 in Kharkiv, indeed the android app map still shows it. I was wondering how long it continued operating in the region, and what kind of reliability it had? Were there any unique challenges? And was there any risk to data security or integrity if the physical server had somehow fallen under Russian Intelligence control without IVPN's knowledge?

Using IVPN Premium now since a long time. I was really happy with the previous Multihop Feature as i need it for Business purposes. But now with the new Port-based approach it really sucks. Before i was able to select Port 443 TCP for Entry and Exit Server. Now i have to choose the predefined Ports e.g. 22801 for example when i want to route the traffic over Multihop connection. As i have a small router when traveling, im not able anymore to connect via Multihop for instance on airport or internet coffee as the higher ports are blocked, and normally just ports like 80, 443, 53 are allowed…

Also now it is really easy for internet service providers to throttle the connection speed, as the connection is not possible anymore via the standard ports…

Also every time to create the VPN Config on the Website again, if you want to switch the Entry / Exit Nodes to get the related port number for the connections sucks…

Is there an Option, to get the previous Multihop Connection on Standard Ports back?

iVPN refund window? (zerobytes.monster)

iVPN is an expensive service. There's no one that can say otherwise. But that's ok because we all had premium service for a premium price. So it was fair.

But now PortForwarding got phased out, the price was kept the same and we get no services to replace the huge loss of PF.

Has iVPN opened any statements about extending the refund window? Of course I don't mean full refund, just the remaining months be refunded.
