Tails is now shit. (sh.itjust.works)
submitted 1 day ago by [email protected] to c/[email protected]

I just tried to install tails on a thumb drive - which I've done before - and I have to say the experience has degraded substantially. As background, I'm not a novice. Getting an image onto a thumb drive is not the issue. Booting into tails though is seriously crippled. The boot sequence is seriously broken, and I''d be surprised if any journalists can make tails work. The blue screen of nothing: Activities, Applications, Places is non-responsive with any keyboard, or any mouse (wired, bluetooth, or radio), or keyboard I tried. WTF is wrong with the latest Tails releases?

The U.S. slide into dictatorship, with close ties to Russia, implies a learning curve that should align with events there. When some oligarch falls out of favor with Putin, they somehow commit suicide (see for example the fairly long list: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Suspicious_Russia-related_deaths_since_2022), including some who shot themselves five times in the chest. Trump taking advice from Putin is likely to lead to even stranger deaths than Jeffrey Epstein's.

Any thoughts or predictions?

sh.!t, its a Deja Vu (sh.itjust.works)
submitted 1 month ago* (last edited 1 month ago) by [email protected] to c/[email protected]

Was browsing around the sh.!t just works instance from a top to bottom perspective, and I had a Deja Vu.

A little bit of context here, I am a reddit refuge, and since then traumatized, because I was ethically forced to leave and limited only to visits. But I saw the truth, the fight against enshittification, which I don’t know who started it, Googles or Reddit, but most of the post and comments that have a certain age are just deleted and hanged out there as if Vlad The Impaler paid a visit.

The point is, old reddit users left behind death and destruction, and they had good reasons. What about sh.!t? The Deja Vu was the same image of lack of info and general confusion left by reddit, and was relived now when I visited the community "mini pc"? Did they take their toys and left? Is it about anonymity, ban hammer, contrast in ideology? Is this a defederation consequence? Am I missing something?

It wasn’t a pleasant sentiment. Looking more for moral support than answers.

And what do you think helped keep the group work from falling into the stereotypical exercise in frustration?

Here and there we see people earning and losing career over Twitter, Facebook posts, even if illusionary, it makea news.

When would Mastodon, Lemmy posts get enough traction to get into news?

Unlike them, Reddit has zero credibility, but still has many articles about it and internal dramas.

Where would we as a fediverse reach the point ArsTech and others would refer to our post and comments as a proof of something?

We have a wet dream of them all relocating from X-itter to free platforms and self-hosting, but the first breaking point would be if they refer to us like we are real. When and how it would be? I don't know.

I feel like I've seen another community where one can ask questions to more users.
