Got banned from a Ukranian community in three comments, they don't know how to have any fun over there. Anyway, I've never posted on here before, but you all seem chill.

"Methane production used to be viewed as a problem at cattle ranches and dairy farms, but methane itself is a highly energetic biogas that can be used as fuel. Harnessing it might prove difficult considering that current social graves do not favor open flatulence even for the sake of renewable energy. However, certain diets richer in alfalfa and flaxseed have been proven to reduce methane production in cows, which could potentially solve that problem (13)."

They can't really take away our treats, can they? I was told by Fox that the climate was made up by Big Climate.

Firefox on desktop has an amazing feature that might not have been brought to your attention. It does translation locally which means on your computer instead of sending all the info to "the cloud" (aka unknown parties for unspecified reasons). As far as I know the only zero-effort local translation tool available. A tool to somewhat mitigate the isolation of anglo chauvinism.

Instructions: https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/website-translation?redirectslug=website-translation-redirect-1&redirectlocale=en-US#w_translate-the-full-page

This is a feature built directly into the browser, not an extension and not an external application. You have to store some require language model files on your computer but this process is completely effortless and invisible. It can fetch only required pieces as you go, or download complete models for any languages you want. (I downloaded all available languages and it used about 1 GB of storage-- which is very reasonable.)

If you want, it can translate automatically when it detects the page is in another language. It doesn't work perfectly but you can always manually initiate it.

The page is translated as you scroll. This is a little annoying because ctrl-f or other page-wide actions doesn't work as expected; you must scroll to the bottom of the page to translate the whole thing.

You may also translate only a portion by selecting and right-clicking.

The URL remains the same so if you copy, bookmark or share it, you are dealing with the original link. So unlike other translation services google doesn't insert itself into all your links. But then you can't share a direct link to the translation in this way-- because that data does not leave your computer.

Current languages lean heavily toward to Euro sadly. But it has expanded a lot lately.

This tracker lists languages that are still in progress but are available in a beta-type release. So if you really need one of the languages not listed above you might be able to get it in developer or nightly. It also tells you how good it thinks the particular model is. You can see in the github issues they are working on languages considered easy and hard.

I mean why? Wouldn't it be much more realistic and relatable if the ad was like "oh thank fuck I'm not pregnant"

There's a spectre haunting this labor day weekend: great deals on used automobiles!

The history of all hitherto existing society is the history of struggle to buy used Ford, Honda, Toyotas, and more at low low prices.

From each according to his abilities, to each according to his needs...and everyone needs to pay less than 2% down at signing regardless of credit history!

You have nothing to lose but great savings on all our used mid-sized pre-owned cars!

Any attempt to disarm workers of financing as low as 5% interest after six months must be frustrated.

Workers of the world unite..this labor day weekend around all our great deals on every major brand.

I can only assume that by “dream collection” they are talking about the act of collecting your hopes and dreams to smash them up and turn them into shareholder value

Literally an apartheid state and we're rooting for characters that are committed to "keeping it safe" (this means further militarizing the border between Piltover and the undercity and killing children on accident and feeling really bad about it). There's plot elements that expose how bad Piltover is for undercity citizens, but that's just the other half of both-sidesing the issue and calling it a cycle of violence. No, the REAL and IMMEDIATE threat is Silco, the guy actually committed to resistance against apartheid Piltover and even the Good and Right characters are opposed to him - to the point that they're more willing to work with Piltover, the state that has been oppressing them their whole lives and which they constantly talk about how its oppressed them their whole lives, to take him down. There's even the gem at the end where Piltover is on the verge of granting the undercity sovereignty and freedom to end the fighting, but then someone decides to fire a fucking rocket straight into the room this decision is being made in. It almost feels 1 for 1 equivalents being made to Israel and Palestine based on hasbara narratives.

It was a super-annoying read. The info was all over the place. And the fucking New York Times made the lede the final paragraphs. Basically - if the republicans want to have one - I'm sure they'll be able to. The constitution is a vague mess on this. The article doesn't mention the supreme court. But I'm certain nearly everything the republicans want to do will be declared constitutional by the wackadoodle GOP SCOTUS justices.

  • 34 states to have a convention
  • 38 states to approve any constitutional amendment.

A Constitutional Convention? Some Democrats Fear It’s Coming.

The 1787 gathering in Philadelphia to write the Constitution was the one and only time state representatives have convened to work on the document. [...] A simple line in the Constitution allows Congress to convene a rewrite session if two-thirds of state legislatures [34 out of 50] have called for one. The option has never been used, but most states have long-forgotten requests on the books that could be enough to trigger a new constitutional convention, some scholars and politicians believe.

[...]

More than 34 states appear to have standing requests to change the Constitution, some dating back more than 150 years. [...] 38 states would have to approve any constitutional amendment.

[...]

By the count of David Super, a professor at the Georgetown University Law Center and an expert on constitutional conventions, the highest number of active requests for a convention on one specific topic is 28, for a balanced budget. But, he said, if Article V is interpreted as allowing any request to count toward convening a constitutional convention, the 34-state threshold has already been reached.

“If Congress declares under whatever crazy counting theory the convention advocates support that we’ve met the threshold, then we’ll have a convention,” Mr. Super said.
