Think of him what you want, but I think this nicely shows the problems that "gamers" will encounter when switching to linuxand gives a good view from outside the Linux community

No. Every software of similar size as Firefox is full of bugs and vulnerabilities

Fyi Russia destroyed it and when Ukraine tried to repair it, russia killed the workers during the repair. So maybe hungary should talk to someone else about the issue

For example I have some last gen hue lights 1100 lm. Their color temp goes from 2000 - 6500 K. Why is that? I mean the are RGB, they can do pure blue and pure red, so they should be able to do any temperature, no?

Are there even any? I only know of Bosch, but it's basically just a rebranded Ecovacs.

Ideally it has home assistant integration

Edit: After a quick research I came up with this:

  • Vorwerk: Way too expensive. Premium price for a very basic device
  • Kärcher seems like a solid choice
  • Dyson is expensive and the performance does not quite seem to match the price
  • Philips, Electrolux and Miele also offer vacuum robots, but I don't know how good they are, yet
  • There's also Samsung, which is not european, of course, but at least not chinese or american

yes, it's a rant. I don't care.

Back in the days drag and drop was working perfectly fine, but now it's a pain to use. I just installed mkvtoolnix dropped two files into it and it worked. Wanted to add another one and it didn't. Guess it's because it's in a network share and for some reason that matters. Adding the file via the menu works though wtf? Reinstalled mkvtoolnix. Now natively instead of flatpack and now dropping from the network share works, too. Guess it's some sandbox permission thing and who doesn't love fiddling with permissions on a weekend.

Btw dropping a file into the file open dialog window also does not work when the program is installed as flatpack. Try explaining that to your mom and then think about why most people think linux is to complicated.

Also remember how you could drop a file instead of pasting its path? I just tried that to add the path of a video into a text file and it inserted the video into the text. Of course it froze the text editor. Great.

Also way too many times firefox opens a file then I drop it in instead of uploading it to the cloud storage I have opened and unzipping files by dragging them out of the archive manager is not possible for the last couple of years.

Honestly I don't care about workarounds or if it's a wayland, grnome or flatpack problem. These are basic functionality that I expect to just work

Basically movies where the director didn't care about logic and used that freedom to cook

I'm on OpenSuse Tumbleweed (although I'm pretty sure I noticed the behavior on Manjaro, too).

The problem is that the volume of e.g. Firefox gets turned down for no reason. I noticed that a youtube video was quite quiet. I then checkt pavu control and saw that the volume for Firefox was set to 83%. I set it back to 100, but after the pc resumed from standby, it was at 83 again. Sometimes it's enough to just pause the video for it to move the volume back down.

Why is that and how do I disable this functionality?

Since Gnome 44 there is a new UI to show apps (i.e. messengers, sync clients, ...) that run in the background. It is supposed to take the place of the tray icons. In my experience it's basically not working, though.

The only app I use that uses the UI is the nextcloud client. But that thing's autostart seems to be very unreliable and most of the time I have to start it manually after booting. Could be an issue with the app and not with Gnome, but I don't know.

I also use Telegram and Element, but both still seem to use the old tray icons that you now need to install an extension for to work. Meaning that with vanilla Gnome when you close the Telegram window, the app is stopped and can't receive massages in the background.

Is the new UI broken or are app developers just not implementing it into their apps or what's wrong with the current situaltion?

I mean the wAP ax is cheaper and offers faster wifi, plus it's waterproof so you can use it outdoors. One advantage of the cAP ax is a faster cpu and more RAM, but if you need a complex firewall or VPN, a dedicated server makes more sense I guess.

Tbf the cAP has two Ethernets and PoE out so you can Daisy chain them. But is that all or am I missing something?

I know AVM (i.e. FritzBox) and Devolo make WiFi devices, but both don't offer access points. I guess you could use a FritzBox, but their design don't make them suitable to be boltet to the wall of a living room.

I found Mikrotik that are a bit difficult to configure and LevelOne.

Are there any other options?

Thingyverse is owned by Ultimaker, Printables by Prusa and makerworld belongs to bamboo. I don't really want to donate my models to a for profit company, so are there any similar community run alternatives where I can upload to? Cheers

First of all, I don't want you to help me with a specific problem. All the details in this post are just examples and I'm interested in getting a general understanding.

So I just wanted to play doom eternal, but when I press play on steam, after a couple of seconds the button switches from blue back to green with no game running. I checked protondb and saw that the game was gold rated, so it should run fine.

I checked the tweaks that people use and they suggest different proton versions. But no matter what I do, I basically get nothing. There are no error messages or log files. Same with other games I tried in the past.

So basically when a game does not work out of the box, I have no idea where to look for cues on how to fix it. Is there a verbose mode or something similar?
