Paul Reubens, the actor best known for portraying the irrepressible, joyfully childlike Pee-wee Herman, died Sunday night after a private bout of cancer. He was 70.

He was 70? When did that happen?

[–] [email protected] 5 points 1 year ago (1 children)

Yesterday, sorry to say...

Sounds like it was cancer :( damnit. When can we figure out a cure instead of wasting time on war

[–] [email protected] 2 points 1 year ago

It was.

/Cancer Sucks.

Fucking brain cancer. That hurts. Got to speak with him on a Zoom Cameo call in late 2021 and it was just a wonderful experience. Such a cool human being. Lost my mom to brain cancer in 2000. Always stings a little more when you hear about another having gone through it.

I know, its a major bummer. I grew up on Pee-wee;s Play House as a kid. Then the other rolls like Cheech and Chong, Blow, etc the guy had massive depth as an actor.

Let's not forget Mystery Men!

My God you're absolutely right! He was amazing in that movie, I feel remiss for forgetting that role. What a great ensemble of actors, going to watch it now.

/Hamburger train... I'm sorry, I'm sorry, I'M NOT SORRY!

Pee Wee's Big Adventure is a godamned classic.
I love him in Batman Returns, it just cracks me up when I see him, but man he sold that role. Tons of people never even realized he was in it.

[–] [email protected] 2 points 1 year ago (1 children)

Who did he play? I didnt even realize he was in it. I loved Batman Returns!

[–] [email protected] 2 points 1 year ago

He was Penguins father in the beginning

[–] [email protected] 1 points 1 year ago (1 children)

Thats his genius, pre peewee he was a staple in the Cheech and Chong movies.

/fuck today is a darker world...

[–] [email protected] 2 points 1 year ago (1 children)

I never knew that, I'll check that out thanks. I first knew him from Playhouse.

Hamburger train... Sorry, Sorry, I"M NOT SORRY!

/you'll get it

[–] [email protected] 2 points 1 year ago

Yes! Just made a comment about this elsewhere! That scene always cracks me up

[–] [email protected] 7 points 1 year ago (1 children)

Oh shit man, I loved Pee Wee as a kid. Its a shame all the ridicule he had to endure. He was a genuine entertainer.

[–] [email protected] 2 points 1 year ago (1 children)

Yeah, Pee Wee's Big Adventure is still great. And the small roles he had in a couple Cheech and Chong movies still make me laugh. That hamburger train thing is hilarious

[–] [email protected] 1 points 1 year ago

I'm sorry I took the money.

[–] [email protected] 6 points 1 year ago* (last edited 1 year ago)

Rest in peace. I first saw him in the Cheech and Chong Next Movie and only realized mamy years later he was already playing the Pee Wee Herman character then.

[–] [email protected] 4 points 1 year ago

What an absolute legend. RIP

[–] [email protected] -3 points 1 year ago (2 children)

Phil Hartman was in the original stage show, The Pee-Wee Herman Show, which was not a kids show. And he was in the kids' show.

[–] [email protected] 3 points 1 year ago

Also Laurence Fishburne, Cowboy Curtis!

Why were you downvoted for saying this? I will never understand people...
