You can find this comment thread under this post.

This post was about how BDS laws are undemocratic and anti-free speech and that Israel is lobbying for anti-BDS laws

But the comments are the cherry on top.

Israel is doing genocide.

Sounds kinda like what the Chinese have been doing to the Uyghurs, too.

He's spot on; I always find it kind of depressingly amusing when you hear Americans talk about the corruption in places like China or Russia or North Korea - ofc the thing about those countries is that if you are getting away with corruption; its probably sanctioned corruption. The US has laws against corruption and doesn't act on them.

Imgur comments are like looking into an ant farm. What kind of person actually goes there to talk, it's so strange

[–] [email protected] 9 points 9 months ago

Yeah, I was unaware it even existed. It's always spaces like that that are the most liberal or worse, because it's mostly astroturfed by bots, rest assured very few humans are participating in those conversations.

Me looking at every "ant farm" on the internet agony-soviet

It's like reddit for people with even worse attention spans.

EDIT: and this sort of person as well, lot of those there:

an actual example of the "whubbaboutism" they so often decry

[–] [email protected] 5 points 9 months ago

That was my initial thought as soon as I saw that comment data-laughing

My stance on the alleged Uighur genocide is, if you think it's worth formally recognizing in your parliament (looking intensely at France), then you actually have a moral obligation to do like South Africa did and start an ICJ case. Until then, France is complicit in anything that is or isn't happening in Xinjiang.

That "genocide" which there is no substantial evidence for, and is purported to be, at worst, cultural repression and reeducation of suspected terrorists? That's the same as having your community leveled and dying by the tens of thousands?

[–] [email protected] 4 points 9 months ago

Yeah but they'll tell you you are a Chinese bot for defending them chairman

I had an account there and used to argue with the libs there in threads like this. A couple of weeks ago I realised I could no longer post comments. Some comment or activity of mine had triggered something and although I could still up/downvote all commenting was forbidden. My last comment before being banned was complaining that Americans in the comments were being racist about China.

Comment sections around the internet have always been awful
