Just one day after 404’s piece on Proton CEO Andy Yen’s AI psychosis, and much public sneering of the matter… those pending ‘re-interviews’ on staff’s submission to slop apparently won’t be happening. But Yen is still an all-in slopbro, so.

Yen also mentioned “org changes,” and said that part of this is “redistributing talent across teams.” He said that the reorganization will happen next month, “but there will be no loss of jobs from AI.”

TL; DR Nothing has really changed, we're just going to be more discreet to avoid further backlash, also layoffs are coming, don't worry, we won't say it's because of AI.

This is why you don't bargain with terrorist tech bros. Andy and his cronies need to go.

There's a lot to unpack in this report. The interesting thing to me is the role of journalism in kinda-sorta keeping these chucklehead CEOs in check.

The move came after 404 Media published an investigation on Thursday, which showed how Yen was aggressively pushing AI across Proton, in some cases despite security concerns from employees.

Yen, and any smart CEO, will see the problem here is their employees talking to media. I expect that this will be used to stifle trying to get public support and other organization efforts under the guise of data loss prevention, and we'll see less opportunities for whistleblowers to get these kinds of activities under scrutiny.
