Sergio Stuardo Monroy, 51, was charged in King County Superior Court with indecent liberties by forcible compulsion and unlawful imprisonment with sexual motivation. The charges stem from an August 2026 incident during what was supposed to be a date in Seattle, according to court documents obtained by KIRO Newsradio.

Prosecutors alleged Monroy pinned his date inside his vehicle, forcibly kissed and groped her, and attempted to remove her clothing. Court documents stated he prevented the woman from leaving the vehicle and later drove away while restricting her ability to escape. She eventually jumped from the vehicle at a Ballard intersection and called 911.

The incident allegedly occurred after Monroy and the woman spent the evening drinking at several bars in Seattle. The two had returned to Monroy’s vehicle after leaving a venue when the assault allegedly took place.

If Monroy is convicted, prosecutors argue the case could qualify him for a mandatory life sentence without the possibility of parole under Washington’s persistent offender law, commonly known as the state’s “three strikes” law.

Monroy was convicted of second-degree rape in King County in 2018 and spent about six years in prison. Since his release in December 2024, he has remained under lifetime Department of Corrections supervision as a registered sex offender, according to court documents.

In the current case, prosecutors requested $1 million bail, a sexual assault protection order for the victim, surrender of any weapons and his passport, a prohibition on alcohol and drug use, and electronic home detention if released.

I don't know why they're even considering releasing this human trashcan. He's a chronic unrepentant predator and needs to be separated from his potential victims on a permanent basis.

This is my first time hearing of McNeil Island. So my brain just assumed, "That must be the name of the island from 'The Most Dangerous Game'."
That island is referred to as "Ship-Trap Island."

In 1998, the state legislature authorized the placement of the state's Special Commitment Center, a total confinement facility for sexual predators, on McNeil Island. The center, operated under the control and direction of the Department of Social and Health Services (DSHS), is a place where chronic and violent sex offenders can be civilly committed, per a court's determination and after the end of their prison sentence. The DSHS remains responsible for facility maintenance and capital repairs of the Special Commitment Center.

Thanks for a bit more background on the facility on the island. With such a rich history, including being Charles Manson's home for a couple years, I'm surprised I don't have that fact locked away for trivia nights.

Also, thanks for setting a good example for citing your source. I'll follow your lead the next time the source of my info isn't made up or pulled from my ass.
