Big guy is a little bigger than a quarter. Both have been there for about an hour.

I'm pretty sure that the long-legged spider is facing away from the short-legged one.

The big one doesn't consider the little one a threat. The little one, however, is waiting. If the big one doesn't pay attention for even a fraction of a second, it's over...

You think the jumper can take the wolf?

Yes. The body sizes are the same so the poison from the jumper will be enough to take it down. The legs don't mean much on a fight if the jumper makes the first move.

I love wolf spiders. They are pretty chill if you leave them be. We have a few in my basement and I tell them not to let my SO see them or else I have to move them to the garage. We never have any bugs/insects in the house.

By my back door where I sit to smoke, the frame has rotted out at the bottom. We got a wolf that lives in the hole. I have saved her 5 times from our cats.

Last month my wife called me into the kitchen. The wolf had come inside with her babies. She was hiding from my wife and son. When I came in and they stepped back, I swear to Darwin. She came out of hiding, got up on my sons toy truck and turned to show me her babies.

I got as close as I could aa I still am a little scared, but I kid you not. She showed em to me, turned, looked at me, and then went to the door and waited for me to open it.

I do believe one of her daughters lives in the hole now, and only comes out when I am near.

I've really ended up loving wolf spiders.

Some jumping spiders specialize in eating spiders.

I don't know much about spiders, but I think that the short-legged one might be Phidippus audax.

The presence of a large (typically triangular) white spot in the center of the abdomen with two smaller spots below it is often used to distinguish this species.

    The chelicerae are iridescent green.
