Honestly I don't know if the current production studios have it in them to make the kind of show that SG1 was. If we get 10 episode seasons and it gets canceled after 2, we may as well not have any new content.

Wandavision was so incredibly boring. Everyone I know says the same. They must have had insanely good marketing to make anyone think it was something worth noting.
Wandavision was all hype and Agatha All Along was beyond cringe. Utterly awful. I'm not sure why all fantasy and science fiction movies and tv have to be cgi-heavy sentimental slop these days. But this is where we are and likely where Schaeffer's Stargate will go (if it's ever made).
Oh man I hope they don't go all woke and make Teal'c black.
tbh its been long enough i doubt anyone would be able to capture the spirit of the SG1 era without it devolving into fan service "remember this?" slop like most returning media ends up as these days. these things are made by dozens or hundreds of people all working together, so a few high up people from the original coming back will never be much more than a marketing gimmick in the end. that doesnt mean it couldnt be good, but it wont ever be what it was.
The way most production companies are doing things nowadays, they'll say "remember this?", just before dropping it into a meat grinder.
You're forgetting that Mallozzi is still heavily involved with the fanbase (over at Reddit, unfortunately - we should convince him to come grace us with his presence and BTS goodies sometimes), and Gero never gave up on the franchise either.
These two men shaped what was best about SG-1, Atlantis and Universe. Them being producers (and to some extent, writers) would've ensured the spirit of the OG survived.
Wait what happened to the original producers? I hadn't heard they weren't involved anymore
So, back in January, Amazon decided to "shake up" the MGM leadership (namely they replaced it entirely).
That came to fruition in May - and the very end of the month, right when pre-prod preparations for casting etc. were underway in the UK, Amazon announced they're cancelling the project.
I'm 100% sure it's because new leadership came in swinging dick, and found the project to be too attached to the old leadership (it got approval under them). And as usual, new management cleans house, gets rid of all the old stuff that wasn't making money yet, to replace it with their vision.
So yeah first of June was a major hit for fans.
I finally watched the movie, I fucking loved it
No need for a reboot, it needs to just be re-aired
The show is quite different from the movie (for the better, actually).
