There's an app I've been using on my phone to manage my HRT regime for quite a while now, it's called Mona. Free and open source (as all the apps I recommend are), for me personally invaluable, quite easy to use...and yeah, it's pretty too πŸ˜†
It helps me in the following ways:

  • I get reminders for my E injections, daily cypro dose and my daily prog boofage (:3)
  • All intakes are recorded, so I can see when and where (in which thigh) I took my injection on a certain day. Injection spot rotation is important!
  • It lets you manage your supplies. This means that you set the number of, for example prog capsules or milliliters of E oil you have (and which ester). Then, with every scheduled use (every time you mark a reminder as "taken"), the number of those you have in stock decreases by the dose you took.
This is a godsend for me, as I have 3 different medications to worry about.
  • There's a graph view, which shows a (very inaccurate) graph of your current E levels. It really is just an estimate, I don't rely on it.
The cool thing is, you can add blood tests you've had done and they appear on the graph! So you see a dot above (or below) the levels estimated by the app. Pretty neat!
  • There are tons of options on when to get reminders, so when I was switching from weekly injections to once every 3 and 4 days to every 3 days, the app helped me a lot!
  • I personally like the appearance. It's Material You, I think, but on my phone, it's a pretty shade of pink. The design is really nice and appealing. I particularly like the overview of reminders for today (the main page of the app).

I'm gloating about the HRT app I use, totally! But...I genuinely do find it useful. And what do I know, you might too. So, maybe give it a try. It's free and open source, doesn't cost anything and it's all local, so no data is being shared with anyone. It's kinda neat! :3

Homepage (reminders for current day)

Yeah, I didn't take my cypro today...oh well. Cypro is so strong, it doesn't make a difference. Also, I have easily monotherapy E levels, so doesn't matter anyway :P

Intake history

I really appreciate having a history of my past intakes. It helps my OCD, lol

Levels (with graph view)

These are NOT my levels (I'd probably be dead with these), it's a placeholder blood test. I wanted to get the time and date correct, so I put in placeholder E and T values. I'm getting the results tomorrow, so I can fill in the actual numbers.

Supply stock management

And this feature is so nice, omfg! Stock management is one of the best features of this app. Being able to see at a glance how much of each medication I have crammed in my cabinet is a lifesaver!

Oh that's cool. I've been using MedTimer (from F-Droid) ever since cypro got too hard to track without reminders. I do like 1/4th every 3 days xD

Also has stock management and all. It honestly looks so similar that i'm not sure if Mona is a fork of it

    Yep, it's good.

Just make sure to regularly do backups (in settings), and prefer to store them in secured places, ideally, password protect them with encryption (e.g. zip).

And if you have ideas or bugs, then you can check their GitHub page (https://github.com/mona-hrt/mona) to make new issue. Or if you can't (I think they have discord thing?) do so via GitHub, then ask someone who can.

I've learned recently my previous hrt app has claude credited as an author. This does not, so I'm going to try it.

Looks like they have a explicit no-ai policy in the contribute file

Mona is a health app that people trust with sensitive data. The project values contributions that a human wrote, understands, and can explain.

    1. Vibe-coded PRs will be rejected.
    2. Write PR/issue descriptions yourself, as AI summaries are genuinely hard to read and review.
    3. Do not use AI to answer PR comments. You (as a human) must understand the code you wrote enough to answer yourself to our questions.

Oh, Featherline? I tried it out, but it seemed a bit complex. I liked Mona better, so stuck with that. Good to know!

I saw a thread on how to detect slopcoded projects and so I checked some of the things I use and featherline has a lot of the signs. Very quick bursts of adding features over one to two days, claude listed as an author, and an initial 1.0 release with no visible pre-release activity.

Mona does not list claude, has many more contributors, and has a long and plausible development history going back to sub 1.0 pre-release builds. I with my limited experience I can certify Mona as probably not slopware.

looks nice... I've been using MedTimer for a while and since I'm taking not only HRT but other meds as well I think it's a nice general medication app, but if I'm being honest I think I'm mostly using it for keeping track of my HRT stuffs. might switch to this!

    OMG! Thank you so much!

I was just going to use a txt file for tracking my injections lol, probably still will keep writing to it so I can have a more verbose log, but I'm definitely going to be using this app too!

I'm currently just using the graph on diyhrt.coffee for my projected levels, still soaring up at the moment (pre-HRT was 36pg/mL so probably between 100-200 at this point), but it helped me course correct (take an extra 4mg to boost my first injection) since it would've originally taken 2 extra weeks before actually even getting to where it needs to be. An estimate graph will help so much especially when I get my first blood test, so I'll very much appreciate having it saved in an app.

Supply management should be good for me, I already have a backup vial and will plan to always have one so I won't have any issues, but this will probably come in handy when I start progesterone later in my transition.

I was just going to use a txt file for tracking my injections...

    This is a joke, but...
I'm fucking done 😭. People using text files to store important info, like it's the best, most organized and secure format ever...I'll never understand you πŸ˜† /s
My bf does that...for everything, including his fucking passwords. As someone who is fairly tech savvy, knows many ways to securely store passwords and actually cares quite a bit about security...this makes my fucking blood boil 😭. It's the most end user thing to do, ever!
    Umm, anyway...

The graph is good, but please please please get proper blood tests πŸ™. I used to use a graph to estimate my levels too. And a blood test showed it was all wrong..very wrong. Please, if you have even the tiniest option: do it. Get a blood test.
This isn't supposed to be criticism, but you talking about taking an extra 4mg scares me...I assume you're on enanthate and I've heard it's better to just wait for the levels to build up, especially without blood tests. Don't take my word for it tho...

Good on you for the supplies! The app can track exactly how many milliliters you have in a vial, and even tho I use ampules, it works for me, but I'm glad you have it figured out πŸ’œ
Definitely use it for prog capsules tho!

Best of luck girlie. It sounds like a lot at first (esters, needles, levels, dosages, concentrations and intervals) and it is...but you'll get there 🩷
Let me know anytime if you need any help/information! I'm here ❀️

i'ma be real with you, i track my injections by manually adding rows to a CSV file which i keep syncthing-ed across all my devices (phone/laptop/PC/both servers) and just use a recurring event in my regular calendar for notifications (which also syncs across my various devices via my caldav server). i can tell when my supplies are running low when my current E vial goes empty and i have to switch to the next one :P

the only thing i don't have which this app does is the automatic level estimate charts, but my blood work every two months is probably giving me much more accurate info :P

that said if i ever add prog to my routine this will probably be pretty helpful so i'm gonna save this for potential future investigation

i’ma be real with you, i track my injections by manually adding rows to a CSV file

    Noo, you heathen 😭 /s
Bonus points for Syncthing tho. At least there's that

i can tell when my supplies are running low when my current E vial goes empty and i have to switch to the next one

Fair enough! All meds I get are from prescriptions, so this mostly helps me know when to ask for a renewal. But I respect your ways :3

the only thing i don’t have which this app does is the automatic level estimate charts

Trust me, you don't need the app just for that. It's extremely inaccurate, really just an estimate. Blood tests good! ❀️

that said if i ever add prog to my routine this will probably be pretty helpful

Definitely! I think this would help with that. I'm glad you found it (at least, future you) useful!

its been 2 years since i introduced my gf to the ideas of password managers, multiple lost passwords later and its still "too much work" as if not being able to log in at all is better lol

REAL THO - my password manager is a .md file on my phone not synced anywhere. Almost all my passwords are still the same as each other. One of them includes my deadname.

...I work with a cybersecurity expert regularly. When he found out... oh boy was that a lecture. I'm fiiiiiiiine.

And I know who your gf is, so I totally know who you're calling out. I had no idea she was a little silly like that 😭

Oof. You and me both, partners that are complete end users. We'll survive this. Well...you will

Oh yes no of course, I have a blood test scheduled on the 24th, I already did one before starting as well, sorry if I worried you. I probably should have asked first and yeah the 4mg was done more on impulse, my mind was all over the place on Monday, otherwise I would've just simply included it in my initial dose. I'm absolutely sure everything is fine though, I'm aiming for monotherapy so overshooting isn't an issue if it does happen.

    I'll never understand you πŸ˜† /s

And yeahh, I am a bit silly when it comes to things like that, though I don't store passwords in txt files, that is absolutely insane, I just keep them in my head like a normal crazy person. I'm just lazy and I already store lots of notes in txt files on my computer.

I mean, an extra 4mg (assuming enanthate) definitely won't kill you. You're fine, my worries are unwarranted. Also, monotherapy is good! I'm glad you're doing that! Blockers are nasty stuff, all of them. The one that people recommend as the "safest" (bicalutamide) doesn't even block T production, it blocks the receptors, which actually makes your T levels higher. And it doesn't cross the blood-brain barrier, so I assume the T receptors in your brain (if there are any) still function...but I don't know enough about this.

And yeahh, I am a bit silly when it comes to things like that

    You're fine girlie 🩷
sigh Let me know if you need computer help

though I don’t store passwords in txt files

    Thank you πŸ™

    that is absolutely insane

    Yep 🀣

I just keep them in my head like a normal crazy person

Well...that's better in my mind. You're totally fine!

This is gonna be a fucking ramble, oh boy...
There was a time when my dad needed help. He needed to export his 110 password from the Edge browser and import them to Firefox. Easy enough, right? So I was explaining the process to him, what I would do, what the result would be.
We're talking in English, my dad is American. My bf is there (doesn't speak English very well at all, even tho he insists it's enough, it's fucking not, he barely understands the basics) and he tries to join the conversation. He starts saying that "writing all of your passwords down on paper is the best thing to do here, according to him"...
Mind you, these were 110 passwords. They could change anytime (if my dad changed them). My bf barely even understood what we were talking about, I was trying to explain something simple to my dad, who isn't that good with computers, so I had to simplify stuff, which was already taking up much of my focus...and then my bf comes in, suggesting literally THE WORST solution to the problem and something I'm personally very much against. I HATE writing down stuff like passwords on paper. I HATE storing passwords in txt files. I hate that he always sets passwords like 1234 on his account because "oh, if they hack me, there's nothing they can get out of this". I hate that he downloads random .exe files from the internet, runs them without blinking, blindly trusting the distributor because "the hackers have nothing to gain from hacking my pc". I HATE how he does stuff on his computer, he's such an end user. It drives me FUCKING INSANE. It makes my blood boil any time he does anything on the computer. It's a major source of frustration in my life and I've seriously considered leaving him because of (but not just because of) this. He's such a boomer, omfg!
I know I'm being mean, but holy shit, I've suffered this for so long now, I think my head is gonna pop. It's outrageous! I'm actually gonna go insane one day!

Sorry, that needed to get out. Umm...sorry

Yes, monotherapy sounded the best for me, and you'd be glad to know I decided on SubQ because of a comment you made on your old account (so thank you!)

writing all of your passwords down on paper ...

omg, if someone interjected like that when I'm helping someone that would also drive me mad, so I feel you, very funny to read though (sorry).

My passwords are pretty long though, never done a "1234", so on multiple occasions I've had people stare at my screen in horror (and sometimes ask) when I'm typing them in. I mostly use a pattern of (usually transport nerd) key phrases chained together with sometimes a special character. At least I didn't take from my dad, who forgets his passwords (from lack of use) and then gets frustrated, only to do it all over again when he next accesses the account.

Girl, I'm super glad you have your passwords figured out. All of the things you mentioned are good! If you remember them, great! I'm glad you take this more seriously than my bf ❀️
