Yeah, they promptly started trying to decry the NY mayor as some kind of 'liberal blue-maga genocidal zionist' within a week because he said it's not ok to go firebomb a local synagogue or something. I'm pretty sure there's no possible outcome that would satisfy some of them.

They don't want discussion, they want to spread propaganda. Propaganda works better if there is noone pointing out that it's misinformation or some kind of false narrative, so they ban everyone who dares to explain that. It's the same modus operandi as has been used in reddit subs like theDonald/conservatives/latestagecapitalism since at least 2016.

They also know that they're not going to convince most people, but they don't need to, they only need to convince a small number of people that both sides are the same and that voting is pointless for a hypothetical 49.9-50.1 election to turn into 50.1-49.9.

Makes you wonder how they intend to convert people to their way of thinking if they don't have the patience to engage in thoughtful discussion about differing points of view.

I get that there are trolls and people engaging in bad faith, but it feels like nearly nobody has any patience for differing points of view anymore. Disagreement or just unfamiliarity is now some sort of unforgivable moral failing, no one is allowed to have previously held a different opinion that changed, and people who agree with you but not to the same level of extremity are the worst of all because they are traitors. Insane fucking purity tests. Keep us all fighting each other instead of ever being able to coordinate enough to effect any change.

So damn frustrating.
