Does not react to a magnet. Does not show any signs of rust. Bent slightly.

Looks almost like a mechanism from inside a click pen, but those normally don't have a stepped stabby end, nor need to be made out of metal.

SOLVED: Stud earring. Gem goes on the the star end, second retaining piece goes on the stabby end. Thankyou.

It’s an earring that’s lost its stone. Looks like the kind used for mall piercing places.
