Yeah it’s one of the reasons I’m working to lose weight - so I can live longer for my kids.
No kids so I eat what I want.
When my children were children, I was immortal, but I learned that I was only immortal for a limited time.

I got fit for fatherhood. Cycling every day. Lost loads of weight, totally changed body shape. Fucked my knees tho.
There are some parents that do make lifestyle changes and some that don’t. Personally I quit drinking and certainly eat a more balanced diet since having a kid. I’m not the best at going to the gym, but I stay on my feet and am pretty active with him. I’m not sure I’d say I only changed for him, I did it for myself as well, but it played a huge part. Everyone is different.
I'm not going to let them eat me! Probably.
I'm still faster, thanks to exercise. For now.
Those kinds of long-term risks to health aren't as intuitive to a parent's protective instinct as immediate things like physical danger to a child. I think most parents would jump into action to protect their child in a moment of crisis, but our brains haven't really evolved to fear things like heart disease. Not only is that a more recent concern in terms of human history, but it's probably likely to kill you only after your child has grown to a point of relative self-sufficience.
Yes?
the goal is not to die before son finish college, he is 4, some ways to go. trying to achieve this by not developing diabetes, keeping a1c under 6, since it is a precursor of so many deathly illnesses
I do it for me, mostly.
