Headline is just a straight up lie. There's no "battery breakthrough". It's just an extremely efficient design, with all the compromises that go along with it.

50 mile range without the dieselgate style software?

Not true, this is an actual usable car:

Engineers could have pushed things further by placing the ID Polo on a crash diet, but the company wanted to keep it as close to the production model as possible.

Tell me you didn't read the article without telling me you didn't read the article.

I'll never understand why people comment on articles they don't read. They're just wasting everyone's time, their own included.

I'll never understand why people waste their time reading articles with a blatant lie right in the title?

I read the original content directly from VW.

    Now boost the I'd.buzz range.

The range does not come from the battery, it's the aero shape and high geared motor.

I wonder how those wheel cover things would work in the snow?

So they basically tried turning their Polo into an Aptera 😅

Except this is real, and a car, not a mobility scooter.

What an irrelevant clown comment to make. 🤡

The brand with 4 models in the EU EV top 20 doesn't make cars worth buying!? And VW group has 7 models in top 20, that means more than a third of the cars in top 20 are from VW group!

    Numbers from July:
    https://cleantechnica.com/2026/08/29/europe-ev-sales-report-bevs-reach-26-market-share/

I personally own a VW ID.4 Pro with 77kWh battery, and it's the best car I've ever owned.
And the new ID Polo in the normal street version is getting raving reviews everywhere.

You may not like VW cars, but you can't simply state they aren't worth buying, because clearly the people that actually buy EV cars disagree.

VW doesn't exactly make reliable vehicles.

Another weird claim, considering that they have the lowest rate of faults in mandatory safety checks in several countries.

What does safety checks have to do with reliability? VW has been tanking in sales because they make shit cars.

I’m so glad that these fucking Nazis are finally going to go bankrupt

That has nothing to do with what happened generations ago. That's like calling all Americans war criminals because USA is committing war crimes in Iran. It's actually worse, it's like calling all Americans 3 generations in the future war criminals because of what USA is doing today.

It's the guilt by association fallacy.

Is this still your nationality? No wonder you’re offended

I just wrote I'm not German, I'm not even from a German speaking country.

Just because you're not a German does not mean that you're not a Nazi. And you bet that the family that runs it and the rich fucks that make money off this company are supporting ADF to bring back a Nazi ideology.
