Tangent here, but something I have never understood quite frankly is why cars are sold being able to go past 80mph in the first place.

Granted that is probably not the factor to worry about in cases like in New York, but I recall hearing about this speed limiting enforcement for repeat offenders in VA:

It's crazy to me why anyone needs a car that goes beyond 80. In the city, you don't even need to actually go that fast and won't likely have the opportunity, although as I'm told often YMMV.

I know this post isn't really talking about speeding deaths but speeding is still reckless.

The fewer people drive, the better.

I saw someone hit a kid on a bike by Atlantic terminal, and they just drove off. Luckily the kid was fine, because I guess teenagers are indestructible and the car wasn't going that fast. But that reckless asshole needs consequences.

Need more than that, and everywhere. There was a death literally outside my building just a couple months ago from a hit and run. 13 year old boy on an e-scooter obeying the law saying you can't be on the side wall with it. We even heard the whole thing, including the mother's cry seeing the body.

All up and down this Blvd, there are memorials to victims of hit and runs. It's disgusting the best LA is willing to do is amp up police presence, especially since this is a low income neighborhood.

Too lenient IMO and it's a start.

fully invest in not just state high speed rail but also new england and tri state regional high speed rail to get from nyc to rochester in like 2 hours
