A last-ditch Trump administration effort to hunt for noncitizen voters ahead of November’s elections is requiring federal employees to misrepresent themselves on voter lookup tools in a way that likely violates state laws, according to a federal whistleblower’s statement released Monday.

The Department of Homeland Security probe known as the “Unlawful Voter Initiative” also asks employees to create federal law enforcement records about voters based on unreliable data, the account warns. That could potentially wrongly implicate U.S. citizens in official documentation that could spur further investigation.

The anonymous, nearly 30-page disclosure was published Monday by Democratic Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer of New York and Democratic Sen. Alex Padilla of California, the ranking member of a Senate committee overseeing federal elections.

If Democrats win any power and do nothing about any of all the many crimes this administration is up to, they will probably lose many voters for decades.

Honestly, considering their track record over the course of the time I’ve been politically-aware, this is more of a prediction than a warning.

I’ll believe they’ll stop snatching defeat from the jaws of victory when I see it. They are absolutely legendary at dropping the ball at the 1-yard line.

that would require seeing Palestinians as human beings

Almost like they're focused on absorbing and neutering any social movement that threatens Wall St profits and keeping the left flank politically engaged so they won't revolt, and don't really care that much about governing or even winning elections...

They claim they will investigate and hold hearings if they take the house. And have learned from the past mistakes.

I hope they back up these claims with action or they’re fucked forever. Hardly anyone trusts them as it is.

They said the same shit after they spent a decade letting Bush II get away with torture and other war crimes. But sure, Charlie Brown, maybe this time Lucy won't snatch the football away.

Ok, just keep letting the Democrats fuck you over instead. That's much better...

Even if that's true, and they have investigations and determine crimes that they want to pursue, the most they can do is refer people to the DoJ for prosecution. Trump's DoJ will not do anything about and recommendations that a Democrat controlled House sends them. They would have to start by somehow kicking Trump's toadies out of the DoJ and I'm not sure they could do that in any reasonable amount of time even if the Senate could be convinced to support them in doing so.

Yeah, without real control of the country including the Supreme Court, it’s hard to see much accountability taking place.

Hopefully they reveal enough in 2 years to make an iron clad case for why they need a president who can clean out the doh and let it finish the job then.

Ah, glad to see the DNC loyalists are already spinning the party's refusal to hold Trump or anyone else accountable. For a moment I thought they might miss this trick and sanity might prevail.

Yeah for sure. Not voting for the lesser of the only 2 mathematically possible evils is insanity.

If that were true you might have had a point, but all that's necessary for an actually good candidate to win is for you ShitLibs not to split the anti Trump vote with a Democrat genocide enthusiast who cannot win the EC.

Split what now? It’s fucking 48-48-4 or something ridiculous. Non voters are the biggest thing keeping corporate shitheads in charge.

Yeah, if you don't know enough about political science to understand what I said before, then you aren't ready for this conversation. It requires an understanding somewhat deeper than the tenth grade civics class that most people believe taught them everything they need to know about the electoral system in the US.

And when they win the midterms and inevitably do absolutely nothing about any of this, will you all finally accept that they aren't there to fight the Republicans, they're there to fight the left?
